We arrived for lunch in a business group and they put us on a cold patio with a group of cafe tables that looked like a puzzle (one high, one low, one even lower and one high...you get the picture...). Food was not up to the hype but it sufficed.

Check in staff put me in a twin bedded room and offered to "push" the beds together...again...you get the picture.

There is an English orientation sheet on the desk describing where the thermostat is (in English) which is great but the thermostat is in Japanese...I took my best shot at programming it but no luck...called to the front desk and asked them to please send someone to turn it on and they responded by telling me where I could find it!

Very expensive...very tastefully done but in the end very frustrating and disappointing.

I stayed two nights at this hotel during a business trip to Kobe. It is easy to get there by the airport shuttle bus from Osaka Airport (it takes about an hour with little traffic). One can either take a taxi from the Sannomiya bus station or you can walk for 10 minutes. The hotel is a bit special since the reception is located on the top floor. The rooms were really nice and in general one can say that the hotel was characterized by very good design choices (shape and color). We spent several evenings in the bar on the top floor. It has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere and they can open up some big windows so that you get sea breezes straight in. Amazing! I also tried the fitness center which was relatively minimal. However, it had a treadmill and it is sufficient for me.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for private or work-related stays in Kobe. In the past I have stayed many times at Okura Hotel, but the Oriental was in a completely different class.

I'm a frequent traveler to Japan, and this is my favorite hotel in the land of the rising sun by far. I love it. Beautiful rooms, great location, great service. Super clean and tasteful decor. I highly recomend.

I stayed one night, besides the reception which is on the last floor and the staff at reception who are very rude. The hotel is nice, nice room, big king size bed.
Nice bathroom and big size room for Japan.
