I stayed three nights to visit the Hiroshima area and Miyajima.
This is a business hotel 3 mins walk away from the train station, very handy as you can hop on and off the JR trains quickly; the trams to the restaurant area and the Peace Park leave from the station as well.
Good room, average Japanese size. I didn't use the attractive breakfast buffet offering.
Definitely a miss the lack of wifi, you can only connect via cable. It's not a problem if you have a netbook, of course, but if you travel light with a snazzy smartphone you won't get anything done.

A reasonable hotel situated close to the railway station. There are plenty of restaurants nearby.
The rooms are small but comfortable.
Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast of reasonable standard.
This is the one hotel that for food and drink had made allowances for us poor non Japanese. It was possible to eat and drink at the ground floor cafe for prices at or below the surrounding establishments. They even offered a three course set menu of soup, steak and salad, with a glass of wine, beer or soda for 2000 yen (£15/$23).
By Japanese standards a remarkable hotel price. After eigth days of rice and noodles it was a nice change.

The New Hiroden is one of the fairly standard Japanese business and pleasure hotels. Rooms are pretty small, but comfortable, AC works great, staff speak a bit of English. This one is conveniently located for the Hiroshima JR station and the local tram stops. A few restaurants in the area -- including a full floor (6th) of Okonomaiyaki places in the Full Focus building. Check them out.. Reasonably priced -- I booked a single for 3 nights @$55 each through expeida. When I checked in was able to upgrade to a semi-double for the equivalent of $12.

I stayed in a very small room for one person, but there were no problems with the room - it overlooked Hiroshima station and from the hotel, the station and the street cars were a short walk (less than 3 minutes). Room and hotel were spotless and the reception staff very friendly and spoke English. Breakfast was included and was quite adequate.The bar downstairs from reception opens at 7pm and I met two of the bartenders (a different one for each of the two nights I stayed) and struck up a conversation with them in their broken English, and me in my stilted Japanese. Nevertheless, we communicated and I made two new friends in a friendly city many miles from the hustle of Tokyo. I recommend this hotel, and I recommend visiting Hiroshima.
