“Compact but functional rooms. Great value for money.”
This hotel is very close to the station, a short 3 minute walk from the North (Shinkansen) exit. The check in staff were friendly enough and had prepared maps recommending nearby car parks for our vehicle. (If you book ahead, you can park at the hotel for 1,000 yen a night. We paid 1,500 to park the night at the Sheraton, right next to the station).
We had rooms on either side of the elevators (see photo) so they were a unique shape. The room itself is smaller than an average business hotel room, but it is designed to feel bigger than it is. Beds, shower and toilet are at an angle, and big windows and a variety of lighting helps create the illusion of space.
The bed is a comfortable double, with extra blankets above the safe behind door. There is a dimmer on the overhead light.
There is no bathtub but the shower more than makes up for it. You can have a full spray from the top, from the sides or from the handle spray. The shampoo, conditioner and body soap are of excellent quality (produced by Pola).
The toilet has lots of buttons to work the bidet (almost standard these days in Japanese hotel toilets). Wash sink is located outside the tiled area, in the desk where the TV sits. Kind of weird to have it over the carpeted area, but probably unavoidable with such a small room.
Breakfast was satisfying but not extensive: Four kinds of bread, pasta salad, seaweed salad, meatballs, rice balls, miso soup, and vegetable salad. Drinks such as tea, coffee and softdrinks are available for free around the clock. This was a plus as the weather was so hot, you just wanted to drink all the time.
There's a LAN connection in every room, and if you didn't bring your own computer, you can hire one from the front desk for 1,000 yen (claims to wipe all personal data when you turn it off). You can also hire electric bikes at a very reasonable 500 yen for 4 hours/1,000 yen for 8 hours.
The only negative aspect of this hotel is that the rooms open up into an outdoor hallway. So you get a lot of street noise and mugginess immediately outside your door.
Take the lift to the highest floor for an interesting street view.
Enjoyed this hotel and would definitely stay here again.
