“ok hotel, small rooms, but great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

I stayed in a non-smoking twin room with a friend. The room wasn't kept up very well. There were scuff marks on the wall and everything looked fairly old and worn. However, the bathroom and room were kept clean.

The room was extremely small, which is common in Japan, but to a level even I wasn't expecting. I am only 5'2" and I felt cramped inside the shower and bathroom. We didn't have much room to put our luggage, but somehow made it work.

Best part of the hotel is the location, which is directly in between the Odori Park and JR Sapporo station. Both were about 5-7 minute walk away, which means access to all the major bus/train lines was also only 5-7 minutes away. Also, it is only 1 block from the Sapporo clock tower.

You are supposed to give the key to the front desk on the 6th floor every time you leave the hotel, but we just didn't do this and had no problems, just remember not to lose the key. Also, the room had a heater (which was needed in December in Hokkaido), but even on low the room got stuffy. We just alternated between having it on and off, and managed to keep the room at a comfortable temperature. Always better to be too warm in the winter rather than freeze while you sleep/

Room Tip: only some of the rooms have internet so make sure to ask for it when you check-in

“Glad we only booked the one night”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2010

From the moment we walked in, this hotel did not have a good feel to it. The stale smoky reception is located on the 6th floor but as we missed the sign in the doorway on our way in we did wonder if we were in the right place - so not a welcoming feel.
We expected the room to be small as most are in Japan and this wasn't too bad but the very drafty window right above our bed, the noisy corridors outside the room and the awful bedding made for an uncomfortable night.
Also the reception requires you to hand in your key when you go out, so there is a little bit of messing about, going to the sixth floor and waiting for the lift everytime you go out and return.
The one possitive is its location as it just an easy five minute walk from Sapporo station and a few minutes to Odori park, the main location of the Sapporo Snow Festival.
We managed here as we thankfully only stayed for one night but had we booked for the week I think we would have tried to find somewhere else. We would not stay here again given the choice.

“Fairly good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2007

Only stayed for 1 night on the late flight from Tokyo. Hotel was in good proximity to Sapporot station, 200 meter walking, easy to find, price is a lot cheaper than sorounding hotels, 7000 yen including taxes, booked via hotel website. Reception was nice, I booked for double bed room but later realized that my room mate preferred twin, and the reception got us the triple room, same price! Bathroom was the smallest size I've ever been, but amenities was like in five stars hotels, including the body liquid soap, hot water and tub. Room felt a bit warm since aparently the air conditioner was centralized, but window can be opened for fresh air in the morning. For an overnight stay it is one of the good value in downtown sapporo while enjoying the main downtown attractions.

  • Liked — great locaiton, good value of the price
  • Disliked — room a bit warm
