“It Was an Okay Hotel~ A Little Bit Far From...”

most of the entertainment. The hotel was a little difficult to find. We were walking with a little luggage while it was foggy and snowing. We ending up actually walking around one side of it until we saw a sign. The building is actually separated into another part, which is why we didn't recognize the one side. The hotel is a little far from the entertainment... Only two or so blocks to the Tower, but further to get to manga stores (Animate, Book Off, Mandarake). It's not as fun walking in the snow to get to places in the winter. The hotel may be better to stay in during the summer. It's quite close to Sapporo Station and an easy walk of around 5-10minutes.

The front desk clerk spoke a little English, but everything else I looked at (including the map) was in Japanese. We could not figure out where the restaurants in the hotel were at first, but there were a lot of signs that showed food. On the other side of the hotel, there is a convenience store. There is no complimentary water in the room, but there is a small fridge filled with drinks.

The room itself was a lot more spacious than most hotels that I've stayed at. There was a lot more room to walk around and put our luggage. The bathroom door had a window with a curtain over it. I didn't check to see if you could actually look through it though... I think you can. The bathroom did not smell good to me. It smelled like a public washroom to me. I think it's because they didn't have an air freshener. The bed was quite comfortable although the room was much too hot for me.

Considering me,my sis & cousin is on a budget travelling across japan for approx 15 days.. Hokkaido is a definite pit stop :)
Hokkaido itself is already a beauty.. The Hotel is OK , reasonable price, clean, good view (we were kinda at top floor).. all in all its a good choice of hotel if u plan to stay in Sapporo.

NOT OK : most of the hotel we stayed in Japan unfortunately doesnt have wifi service, its only LAN..i wonder why.. :(
Location : approx 10-15 mins walk to JR station..
Staff : English..well its always a challenge to find english speaking personal in Japan.. thank god my sister can speak nihongo ..

“This hotel is in a business district. No good for tourists.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2011

While the rooms are large and tastefully decorated, service was good and reasonably priced-the location isn't good at all, particularly in the snow. It is a good 10min walk from the JR station so dragging our big bags along the snow in -5 degrees wasn't a great start.

If you are in Sapporo for business, definitely stay here. If you want a taste of Sapporo as a tourist, don't stay here it's just too far from restaurants, tourist attractions and shops.

“Very Comfortable room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2010

I stayed at Standard Single Room which has a great view of Sapporo city.
Entrance of room is quite spacious and easy to leave my big luggages.
And this hotel has hot spring on 12th floor at the cost of JPY1,500. Even I don't go to hot springs area in Hokkaido we will be able to enjoy nice japanese onsen and relax here.
Location is also great factor which is very close to JR Sapporo station.

“Deluxe Corner Twin Room - great value!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2008

Our first choice of Hotel in Sapporo was initially the JR Tower but it was fully booked on our dates, 02-05 July. This beautiful, Vienna inspired Hotel was actually our second choice. But other some minor glitches, we were more than happy with our assigned room.

The Deluxe Corner Twin room that we had booked, was really comfy and quite large at 40 square meters, for a 3 nights stay. As requested, I was assigned a high floor room, 2001, facing the beautiful Sapporo TV Tower. The comfy bathroom has a bathtub for some nice soaking, but with no showers.

Just outside the bathroom is the dresser table and the cupboard for storage of clothings and suit cases. Then there is another door that separates this area from the actual bedroom, making it like a junior suite. I travel extensively and I am quite certain other hotels could easily sell this room as a junior suite, charging at least 60-80,000 yen for it. However, due to the lower key period, we paid only 21,000 yen per night, with breakfasts!

In the bedroom, there is only one arm chair facing a flat screen TV (it would have been great if there were two arm chairs), comfy and big twin beds with a choice of 3 types of pillows. Views of the beautiful Sapporo TV Tower, quite romantic to look at especially during the night were visible from the room's 2 windows.

Other minor cons of this Hotel were -
1. distance from Hotel to Sapporo station is a good 8-10 minutes walk, likewise to nearby Odori Park.
2. reception staff cannot speak good English but were friendly.
3. no conceirge staff to provide tourism info of Hokkaido
4. no free Wi-fi in room

The Hotel's common areas are quite huge, and quite classy to look at. The buffet breakfasts was served each morning at a gigantic sized function hall, quite beautiful to look at but albeit a little too bright and too huge. Food offered include both Western and Japanese choices, good in both variety and quality. There is even a mini-sized convenience store behind the hotel for your drinks and titbits (not at the Hotel front but right behind it).

As the Hotel's client base is obviously the Japanese, rather than the international travellers, non-Japanese speakers would better do their research on tours and sights to catch before they arrive in Japan. Clues - the Nijo fish market (about 5 minutes away by taxi or a 10-12 minutes walk), the Mount Moiwa night scenery, Otaru (30-40 minutes by JR train), ramen at Ramen Republic (in front of the Sapporo station) - are all must dos'!

Enjoy, this is indeed a very good 4 star hotel!

  • Liked — View of the Sapporo TV Tower and Spa onsen.
  • Disliked — No English speaking staff around to provide conceirge service.
