We stayed at the Westlake Youth Hostel for two nights in the double room. It was an attic style kind of room with a tv, wifi access and clean toilet. Overall, the condition of the room was quite good. The staff were quite friendly and they tried their best to help us when we asked for directions and etc. But for the two days I was there, I only met one staff who was able to communicate in English. It wasn;t a problem to me as I can converse in Chinese, but for those who can't, it might be a problem. It was quite a pleasant stay with only some slight disturbance when some of the other occupants of the hostel got too excited when they were talking to their friends. Most of the occupants of the hostel seem to be local students. One thing to note is that from the hotel to the busier part of the city where you can find everything, you have to walk for more than 45 minutes? It shouldn't be a problem if you know how to take the bus or taxi. Apart from that, no complains.

we were there in the summer. the front desk staff weremainly students, some were not from hangzhou, hence, it was a bit tough getting detail info from them. luckily, hangzhou is not a tough place to explore. their western breakfast options were fine.

The hostel itself was charming and mostly clean. The room was a bit cold because they need electric heaters in the winter rather than the air-conditioning machine, which is not warm enough.

The worst part about our stay was the service. When we arrived at the hostel and asked for recommendations about places to eat, the staff told us that all restaurants were closed and we should just eat at the hostel (not the case at all, we easily found a great restaurant). Then, when we asked about booking bus tickets, which the hostel's website claimed they could do for us, they told us they could not help us, and that we should just go to the bus station as there would be plenty of tickets. All the bus tickets were sold out however, and we ended up having to pay an extra 200 RMB to get to our destination late at night. The hostel should improve the service, as the staff in general was very lazy and cost us a lot of money.

The hotel was good with reasonable location.

I stay in hotel sleepyinn of Beijing before coming to this hotel, the staff at speeyinn was exceptionally friendly, but in west lake hotel also the staff was reasonably good. They taught some of us the Chinese dance, exceptional experience for us, but some time the staff sound little arrogant, but okay like.

The room I stayed was with top sun light sloping room, excellent room. But be careful with hot water in bathroom, the fittings are not the best.

The location seems safe to stay with family.
