Hotel was recently renovated and the newness showed. It's built around a convention centre and so it took me awhile to get my bearings.

The rooms were nice, clean and modern. The hotel is supposed to be 'smart', so when you use your room access card at the lift, it also lights up the sign in the corridors to bring you to your room. A mobile phone is also provided in the room that you are able to bring around town, but I didn't try. One nice touch that I appreciated was that all sockets were 'international', so it could accommodate any type of plug, thus removing the need for any adapter.

Location-wise, it's pretty good. The famous West Lake is about a 20 minutes walk away. There's also a lot of interesting shops and eateries around the hotel which is fun, if you are able to converse in Mandarin (putong hua). Otherwise, it might be a challenge.

If there was one downer, the full size window in my toilet looked into the office building next door, which didn't help with the view.

Could not speak more highly of this hotel, and of the service.

Once we got our bearings, we found this to be an excellant location.....walk one way along the main road and come to really interesting shopping (and a great pharmacy.....use the back entrance and come to a commercial area with many banks/ATMS....another way come to huge Walmart centre with many economical clothing shops, then continue to an interesting area with restaurants (including a French restaurant Cafe d'Amour, and next to it a fun local Bar You Out).

Our room was one of the best we have stayed in. Large, light, sunny, excellent air-cond, great bathroom with tub, and with wonderful shower. Fabulously comfortable King-bed with quality linen. Full size desk, with all office facilities, computer, printer, stationery. Everything to hand. Large Flat Screen.

Very good restaurant, with full and interesting breakfast included, in a comfortable and attracive room. The staff could not do enough for us. And like elswhere in China friendly, helpful, pleasant young people.

In the evening a comfortable lounge, with European singer and accompanist.

If in Hangzhou ( incidentally, a very pretty city) do stay here.

I traveled hangzhou twice within one year, hangzhou is a marvelous city due to its beautiful scenery and friendly local people. Personally speaking I think Dragon hotel is one of the best hotel in town, excluding the newly opened banyan tree and aman resort. It looks like a very much business hotel, but with a greenery garden.
Check in is very smooth, the GRO show me to the room and introduce the hotel facilities patently. There are lots of art work on the wall on the way to the restaurant and the room, and it seems to be a gallery. If you carry your room key, there is a indicator light on the floor to show you the way to you room, it is a magic and hi-tech.
One cell phone is free to use to connect you to the hotel by dailing 0, fantastic point.
One sentence is that a very sumptuous hotel, worth the returning visit.

The hotel is an old hotel and convention center which was recently remodeled by the government (at least this is what my supplier told me).

The room was comfortable, well lit and full of gadgets. Including an espresso/cappuccino maker. Unfortunately, the hotel neglected to stock any coffee products so be sure to bring your own along. They did provide a few different types of tea however.

There was a cell/mobile phone in the room which you are allowed to take with you to use during your visit to Hangzhou. Did not actually try this, so I am able to provide any useful information.

Wireless internet was nice to have. Most hotels in China seem to only offer wired service. The room also possessed several open electrical outlets. This is a bonus, since I travel with too many items that require charging.

Front Desk – The check in process took a long time due to communication issues (unfortunately, I do not speak enough Mandarin to communicate). The hotel did require a large deposit for the room. It was not enough for them to just take the credit card.

Fitness Center – Signs are up, but it was not operational yet.

Restaurants –

Breakfast buffet area was okay. Fairly standard food for westerners. Large selection for the Asian palate.

Italian Restaurant – Due to a heavy snowstorm I had dinner here the night I stayed in the hotel. It was probably the best meal of the trip. The chef (from Italy) introduced himself and provided some suggestions for dinner. The restaurant has multiple wine lists, so if you do not see anything you want on one be sure to ask for another. The service staff was professional and helpful. The only thing negative was that the restaurant was very cold (temperature wise) so be sure to bring along a sweater/jacket.

Dinner Buffet – I tried the buffet this past September during a previous visit to Hangzhou. It is a huge buffet. Expensive, but very good. The only issue is that your food is cold by the time you return to your seat. Wide selection of food with an emphasis on seafood the night I was there.
