Spent 1 night at this hotel and was extremely satisfied with my choice. Check in was very quick and efficient. Though the hotel is located in the city and not on the shore of West Lake, it was easy to get to West Lake from the hotel - about 15-20 minute walk or 10 minute car ride. My room, 1664, was on the smaller size, but perfectly comfortable with a queen size bed, writing desk, and easy chair. The furnishings were in good shape and the bathroom was recently updated and spacious. The room overlooked the city and had a view of the subway line currently under construction, this fascinated me but may be a turnoff to others. My local contact stated that construction is projected to finish in 2012.
The breakfast buffet was quite extensive and delicious. For 948RMB/night including breakfast and VAT, I was very happy with this hotel.

Well appointed hotel, has all the usual trappings of a 5 star hotel. The hotel feels a bit old, needs refurbishment of the common facilities. Everything was very comfortable in the room. The staff were very helpful and all spoke good English. The only let down was the breakfast, it is not up to the standard that a 5 star hotel should produce.
