I was here with my parents, mother-in-law, and husband. Our room was booked and paid for through a friend of my mother-in-law (can't get by in China without guanxi, go figure). So it's not my intention at all to be ungrateful. However, for any future travelers looking to come here, I would recommend thinking twice! Yes, it is true that this hotel is right next to West Lake. The pier is steps from the door. The gorgeous Hangzhou scenery should be able to make up for the hotel if you're here in the balmy summer, but we were there in the winter and were there in the dead of winter!
Where should I start?
- There was a NASTY odor in the halls and in the room. It was more pronounced in the hall, thank god. A mixture of sewage, stale food, and old, moldy carpet.
- Everything just felt sticky and dirty.
- The wallpaper in the rooms were peeling and moldy everywhere.
- There were stains on the carpet and sheets.
- There was no way to control the temperature in the rooms. We were boiling hot! Also, the dust bunnies that were caked on the heating vents was disgusting and the stuff of every allergy sufferer's nightmares.
- There was no wireless internet.
- The breakfast was acceptable, though the sanitary conditions of the dining room and utensils were dubious.
The worst thing is, this hotel isn't even that cheap! Stay away.
