Hotel is out of town. It is plush in appearance, great entrance hotel . Rooms are really spacious with expensive materials and details.Yet not practica when it comes to functions of usel: e.g.very poor lighting in bathroom. Some details look already tired- even if hotel is quite new. We had a good rest. Breakfast experience was terrible. In a vast area there was only one person present, but was really helpless. You had to go long ways to find a hot plare with a jug of coffe and tea each.Toaster not working- other bread types not offered.Check-Out staff was smiling, but did not understand english- so was not able to provide any information or service. There is really no organized workstream in this hotel.

The Empark was the nicest hotel of the many I used in a two week tour of Yunnan. It meets international standards for quality, design, service, and cleanliness. The rooms and baths were wonderful.The service was excellent.

My only complaint is the location is not good for sightseeing in Kunming. The hotel is in the suburbs a good distance from the downtown and the lake. If you want to spend most of your time downtown, you should book a different hotel.

Very friendly staff. The room was huge with a interesting indoor balcony. I was on the 2oth floor. The view was great!

I didn't get much sleep in one of the nights I was there. The guy next door was watching TV all night long... Generally, it's a good 4 start hotel. It's close to the airport but seems a bit far from they city. I'd come back to stay again if I ever go to Kunming again.

This is a 4+ star hotel with all the amenities including very good Japanese and Chinese restaurants at reasonable prices. There is a large shopping center behind the hotel (have to cross busy street). Hotel location is convenient to airport (20-25 minutes away) but is not close to downtown Kunming or sightseeing locations so you will have to be self sufficent with the Hotel and the shopping center.

Rooms were very large (ours had king bed--matrress hard by western standards) and came with free wired internet (recommend bring your own cable just in case they run out). Staff was very friendly and spoke passable english but nuances are "lost in translation" so be very specific and try multiple desk personel to improve your communication.
