And you could tell, It looked like it all needed a good clean, the rooms were ok, but the beds were very uncomfortable.

Breakfast was good, there was a lot of choice, and staff were friendly enough.

The rooms were okay, the Air conditioner/heater controls are a bit "iffy". The picture quality on TV was a bit "fuzzy".
The free buffet breakfast was not great. The toast, eggs and baked beans were okay as was the coffee.
Some of the front office staff spoke a bit of English. There is a Travel agent in the building, but I recommend going down Dong Feng Road to the CAMELLIA Hotel to book tours. (Out the front gate and turn left)

This hotel despite some favourable reviews in obvious guidebooks - LP/RG shame on you - is a miserable dive that is not geared up to accepting foreigners. Only a few staff speak English, the rest are rude and evasive. In a modern China where there are the best hotels and service in the world, this lack of effort, and the lack of desire to improve themselves is not acceptable. Rooms are small, dirty, smelly. Air con did not work; fridge hummed constantly; beds hard; restaurants were average with surly staff. Even the assistant manager failed to book a car to the airport and also failed to let us know.
