The hotel is dependable as long as you are not asking for much. Rooms are getting old but still functional and clean. Hotel staff are not proactively helpful but are responsive. Price is very competitive as compared to the green lake hotel nearby.

We stayed at the hotel for two days. This is one of the few hotels in Kunming, Yunnan that lives up to a five star international standard hotel. The room was nice and clean and definitely has no smell like other Chinese hotels. The service was very good. Jean He, a front desk duty manager had gone out of her way to help us with our purchase of an international sim card so we could call home. The hotel locates in a nice and quiet part of town, near a lake with lots of tea houses and western bars.

To be honest this hotel is a bit dated. The lobby is all chandeliers and splendor but looks old fashioned, the rooms have small TVs in big wooden cases, the pool is an odd shape that is neither family friendly nor set up for serious swimmers, and the gym feels like at a time it could have been considered cutting edge but that time was not in the recent past.

However once you get over this it is all good news! Great rooms with lovely towels and dressing gowns, helpful staff who checked us in and out efficiently and organised drivers to ferry us around. Weather permitting, there is a great little outside sunbathing area through the swimming pool changing rooms (although the outdoor Jacuzzi was broken when i stayed there).

My family also enjoyed sipping a G&T in the lobby while we were serenaded by a string quartet. Well, who wouldn't?!

Very smart comfortable hotel. Firm beds, spacious room and bathroom.
This offsets the location which just another high rise in a city of high rises.
Can take 1/2 hour to travel 1 kilometre. They're currently constructing a Metro,which
means the whole place is clogged up.
If you get the chance go to a performance at the Dance Theatre, choreographed by Chinas most famous Dancer. A stunning experience.
Do avoid the local speciality stew in a pot on the table, where everything is thrown in and ends up tasting extremely bland.
The nearby Stone Forest is a "must see"
