“Nice clean hotel in a perfect location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

The best thing about this hotel by far has to be the location. It is situated within the city walls of Xian and is within walking distance of all the places I wanted to visit. The rooms were quite modern with lovely bathrooms and really comfy beds. There is also all the lovely complimentary stuff that you expect to receive when travelling around China (slippers, socks, toiletries). The room had a telly, a mini-bar and some snacks on offer. There was also free wifi and communal computers that are free to use.

The staff don't speak great English but this is no problem. The hotel itself makes up for it and I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

“Great location, NOT so great hotel.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

On arrival we were told our room was "being made up" and would be ready within 30 minutes. Thirty minutes later we were told that they would start cleaning the room within the NEXT 30 minutes. Thirty minutes later, after "follow up" by me, the room was ready. Unfortunately, though, the promise that our bags would be brought to the room was not kept - so I went and found them (in the open in the foyer) and brought them up myself.

The room is small, uncomfortable, and has seen better days (but quite a long time ago, I'd guess).

However, the really bad news about this hotel is the breakfast room. The first impression is of a large, dirty, room with some elements of a buffet breakfast in place, and occasionally some staff walking around aimlessly. But you will quickly discover that coffee urns which empty are not replaced, the fruit juice jugs are mostly empty, the salt shakers are all empty (except for the rice in them), and the few slices of bread which had been put near the toaster have gone and have not been replaced. The place is, in fact, a disaster (and dirty as well).

To bring the state of this shambles to the attention of the management is a waste of time. They simply shout at some of the staff (who ignore the shout) and then everyone combines to ignore the hotel guest.

I could go on and on about other aspects of this place, but it's simpler to say "find somewhere else if you can".

Room Tip: Go somewhere else!

“Very modern, excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

I travelled part of a tour group and stayed here for 2 nights. This was one of the better hotels if not the best one I stayed in China. For location it is excellent as the shops (inc designer) are nearby, a massive supermarket round the corner. Make sure you ask for directions to find this as it's not obvious. One of the gate entrances of the city wall is literally over the road (make sure you look both ways when you cross!). The gate entrance is where you can hire a bike to cycle around the city wall. It's also very near the bell and drum tower.

It's a very modern hotel and the rooms and lobby are too. Great marble flooring and the gadget in the rooms are quite cool. There's a futuristic telephone operator that operates your lights/TV and electric in the room. Shame there wasnt an instruction manual how to use it! Great shower, typical hard bed though. The breakfast is hit and miss, I just recommend you get there early but not as soon as breakfast is available as not all the food is ready and/or it disappears quick if you are late eaters. Another thing, there's no wifi or computers in the hotel although it says there is in the hotel guide in the rooms.

“Excellent Location - Great Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

The Hotel is in an excellent location. On one of the main streets inside the city walls.
5 minute walk to the Bell tower - 10 minutes to the Drum tower. The Bell Tower is accessible via an underground walkway.
2 minute walk to the South Gate of the city walls. Once on the wall we were about 100m away from a stand where you can rent bicycles to ride around the city walls.

Hotel service was great, we were quite dissatisfied with our room as it had damp on the roof, so they gave us free breakfast for the duration of our stay. From speaking to the other guests it appeared to be only our room that had this problem (we were on the top floor).

I would not recomend paying for the breakfast - it wasn't great and there are plenty of places to eat near by - but if it's included in your rate then its fine.

Furnishings were lovely and modern, hotel was very clean.

There is internet available for use in the lobby at a charge, however there is a coffee shop attached to the lobby that offers free internet when you purchase a coffee.

“Good hotel, modern, great location”

I stayed here for 3 nights during my recent China trip and had a nice stay. The hotel was quite modern and didn't have as much charm as some of the other hotels I stayed in but the location was fantastic! It was situated inbetween the bell tower and the drum tower and was a short walk to most places I wanted to visit.

The room itself was really nice, clean, and had all the mod cons. Tv with English channels, complimentary slippers, a mini-bar, hot water shower and bath, hairdryer etc. I would say it is a good option for Xi'an as it has everything you need in an unbeatable location!
