There does seem to be confusion on the site about this hotel as the one I was wishing to review was the New Century Hotel, Pantao Road, Yangshou - not the one in Guilin. Yangshou is a very interesting place to spend a few days, not only do most visitors experience the fantastic scenery if they arrive via the Li River but it is quite rural and a ride through the farmland and insight into the local villages is well worth the effort. It is easy to find good, very reasonably priced food in the town and there is plenty of opportunity for shopping from the mass of stalls. The park is also a good place to see local life, both in the day and evening. The hotel is rated as 4 Star and a very pleasant place to stay. The bedroom was a good size but our only criticism was that the beds were really hard, we had read about this but it was the only place during our three weeks in China that we actually experienced it. Everything else was fine and it is a very reasonable place to have laundry done as they charge half the price of the 5 star hotels in the cities. There was also very cheap internet access - something like 15 RMB for one hour, whereas we were paying, on averge, 20 RMB for 20 mins elsewhere. Another good thing to do while you are there is an evening river trip to see the cormorants fishing.
