I stayed here for two days after a week in Shenzhen. Although the room was cheaper than the hotel at Shenzhen ( by 20RMB), it was smaller, however, it had better facilities, like a decent shower and a kettle!
What made this place good was the fact that some of the staff spoke English, even in the restaurant. Not that I am doing any kind of comparasin here between the two cities, but the difference between Shenzhen and Guangzhou is that in Guangzhou there are people who can speak English. This makes the hotel booking in and checking out process, as well as other bits and pieces, a lot easier.
The actual booking in process was a breeze here, compared with my hotel in SZ. I think the important thing about this hotel is that it actually caters for foreigners.
I found the staff friendly and helpful, and the buffet breakfast at 28RMB was pretty good value. Indeed the room at 260RMB was pretty good value.
This hotel is also very near the train station, and the metro. Taxi to the airport is a standard 100RMB from here. There is a Bank of China ATM very close by. This is important as it is the only place that seems to accept overseas cards, but beware, I got 400RMB of counterfeit notes from the terminal on my last night. The hotel staff picked it up when I tried to pay for breakfast the following morning- lucky they did because I would have been in all sorts of trouble trying to pay the taxi driver with fake notes!
It isn't a top-notch hotel, but it is clean, the staff are good and it's a good price in a good location. I would certainally stay there again!
