Globel link now has a new name called Shillbin Hotel Guangzhou, same address, maybe same management.
We made online reservation in advance for this hotel for May 17 through May 20th. We were traveling from Wuhan by high speed train to guangzhou in the late afternoon. We knew we were going to arrive late in the evening, so on our reservation, we specifically requested a room be reserved for late arrival. We received text reminders and confirmations every day for prior to the check in day to guaranteed that Globelink will hold the room until 11:59PM for our late arrival. When we got off the high speed rail at about 9PM. We took the subway for 45 minutes Zhongzhan 4 road and walked about 10 minutes witih our luggages for about 1 killometer and arrived the hotel at about 10PM. When we checked in with the reception desk, the clerk asked me to write down my name in English so she can check in the reservation system. After she found my name on the computer, one man looks like a supervisor told us to sit far away from the lobby to wait for the room to be available and clean. At the same time I over heard other people were complaining and yelling with someone for their room. I thought we were safe because we had our reservation, and the hotel acknowledged and confirmed reservation. So we sat there for about an hour to about 11:00PM, some one came by and told us all their room were sold out and they do not have room for us regardless our guaranteed reservation. We were shocked and asked to speak to the manager on duty. Then came this short little man wearing eye glasses in wrinkle oversized suit with a cigarrette in the month. He said he's the manager and he's sorry that all room were sold out. Ironically, he offered us to take down his name and phone number and to give him a call when we are in town on our next visit. I thought he must think that we were retarded or he himself was retarded, why would someone expect him to honor something in the future while he couldn't even honor and perform on his contractual obligation in writing right now. My wife and I were very upset, but could not do much in strange city. The manager pretended he's not fluent with English and offerred to call a taxi to get us out. It's getting late at night in strange foreign city. Fortunately, we contacted our emergency contact in Guangzhou, and got a place to stay in the other side of the city. The next day, we learned from some one that there was some kind of convention in town yesterday, and the hotel room in Globelink was sold for as high as $890 yuen and our online reservation price was $490 yuen a night, a difference of $400 Yuen.
My advice, don't trust and rely on this hotel if they would sold they creditibility for merely $400 Chinese Yuen. The rationale, anything can be sold in China.
Room Tip: Avoid unless you want to try it yourself.
