the good -
hotel communal areas, lobby bar, reception area, reception staff all good english speaking friendly, location also pretty good
the bad -
rooms - stained carpets, tired old slightly broken furniture, bad sound proofing, no plugs n USSR style, cheap smelly shower curtain , low shower pressure, allow 20 minutes for check out as normal in CIS, checking the room etc etc
the ugly -
breakfast was a nightmare, no seats , everything seems to be served at 0700 and nothing done after that, everything reheated to death, list of items i could not get - coffee, milk for non existent coffee or cereals, any cutlery at all, bowl for cereals (ate from tea cup), hot water for tea bags. despite this they had three staff checking room numbers to make sure no intruders managed to get a sly free breakfast, some chance of that
all in all very new russia, plenty of gloss and style but no good when you scratch beneath the surface, lacking in common sense or efficiency
