This hotel is the second I have tried in Rostov in the last couple of years and that proved to be a mistake. This place is not for the world traveller as its service seems to cater for the ex-soviet business traveller. Breakfast is absolutely diabolical! European specialities are served in the Aztec and Mein Herz restaurants,with the latter being the only reasonably attractive place in the hotel with the food at an acceptable level. Hotel advertising suggests that guests can relax with a drink in the Amadeus lobby bar. However, this is little more than an extension to the lobby, with no actual bar as such, (Go downstairs to Mein Hertz). Our room required attention, especially the bathroom. There is no view anywhere from this hotel that would make you want to look out, as it overlooks old decrepit buildings with the river don a distant view.

I opted for the Don Plaza since the Radisson with its nice view over the Don River was closed. The Don Plaza may cater to Eastern European tastes, but lacks the interior design or service that I want to see in one of the top hotels in town. The lobby is not too bad. The location either. Service is rough at the reception but very friendly at the otherwise strange buffet breakfast.

Air conditioning full with smoke from smoking floors. Breakfast selection is poor. Staff is friendly but not helpful at all. For business is ok, but need a swift upgrade and repair.

Staying there for one night. Whole night was listening for running water in the toilet. Too dark. Rooms haven't been repaired for years. Breakfast is OK with a broken coffeemaker and a glass of champagne to have a good start of a day :-). Staff is nice and friendly. Close to downtown,
