Small hotel , a little difficult to find by taxi because of one way streets but actually quite easily positioned . Two blocks away from the Don River and the ferry boats , two blocks from city .
Staff are very helpful and friendly . Stayed there twice during June.

I stayed for 4 nights here in December. The hotel for some reason has been awarded 4 stars by a Russian tourist organisation. By western European standards this is to many. I'd rate it a 2 star hotel. The room i had, was a good size, clean and comfortable. the shower didn't work to well,it took along time for the hot water to reach my room.
I had a nice view of the river Don.
The staff spoke reasonable English and could advise me about taxis, restaurants and the city in general.. I found the reception staff very helpful. There is free wi fi available
The big disappointment was the breakfast . not much choice and always cold. fried eggs and sausages are not very nice cold... The waitress did like it when i asked her to heat my breakfast up in the microwave. I fact she became annoyed when i asked her anything. The coffee was so weak it was no more than coloured water....
The street that the hotel is on is not paved so when it rains the holes fill up with water.
The hotel is situated in the centre of the city and very convenient for shopping and restaurants .... I paid 70 euros per night which is OK ... But the breakfast could have been delivered with more care.

Not what I have come to expect from a 4 star rated hotel, but rooms clean, tidy, comfortable. Reception staff were helpful and their English was better than my Russian so that was a pleasure. If a European visitor, please make sure they complete all the forms you need to go with your passpost on exiting Russia that they stamp your hotel visitors voucher before as you check out otherwise there will be problems at passport control as you try to leave. The hotel is fine, it is just in the wrong place - the road to the front entrance is not made, with potholes, raised ironworks which is fairly typical of Rostov roads. There was a interesting tramp who lived in the drains opposite the hotel who added to the character of this town. A fascinating place if you have friends to show you around and show you of life in Russia.
