NIcely renovated. Well-trained receptionists (judgement based on 2 shifts). Good location (in my opinion) - in the middle of the main street. A striking diference to the horrible Soviet-style property it was until recent. NOTE: I never take breakfast, so this I can not judge.

The friendly staff at reception.The hotel has a good repair, clean and comfortable rooms.Good breakfast (buffet).
Free wireless internet. Safe and TV in the room.

A good hotel for business people.

The Intourist has one of the best locations in the city, but that's it. It is a holdover from the Soviet days. There has been an attempt in recent years to modernize it, but its still lagging. There are other hotels in Krasnodar that I generally recommend. If anyone would like some advice, please contact me.

See didymus' post from June 13, 2006 to set your expectations. This is NOT an American hotel so if you judge it against experiences in America, you will be very disappointed. If you set expectations based on the fact that it was built in 1980 in the Soviet Union, cost $90.00 per night in a prime location in the city, it is an adequate hotel with one exception. The breakfast buffet. I am NOT a selective eater at all but once was enough. Try it for yourself once just for the experience then go find the grocery store in the mall to buy fresh fruit and other breakfast items for the remainder of your stay. There are refrigerators in the rooms.

Nearby dining options: There are plenty of dining options within walking distance. Despite several security guards in the lobby at all times, we did not feel unsafe walking outside at anytime. A very good Italian restaurant is in the same building as the hotel but you must walk outside to enter. A Japanese restaurant is a block from the hotel. A new American style mall is two blocks from the hotel with a small grocery store in the lower level, several restaurants/cafes, and just about anything you might need. There is also a food court with some American food chains (Subway and KFC) and a Hooters like restaurant on the second floor if you get desperate for some American style fast food.

My wife and I stayed three nights in the renovated rooms and seven nights in the non-renovated rooms. The renovated rooms cost about $30.00 per night more and did not seem worth it. An updated bathroom is the most obvious difference with "newer" tiling, more towels/wash clothes (we didn't receive wash clothes in the non-renovated room), a hair dryer, and an electrical outlet in the bathroom. The other difference was the bed. The renovated room had a queen bed versus two twin beds pushed together and a higher quality mattress. The showers/tubs are raised on could be challenge to get in and out of if you have trouble with balance or knee problems.

The WiFi works fine and works in all the rooms but is not free. It cost $5.00 for 50MB of data download. If you need to upload/download large volumes of data, you might want to find an alternative location. You also have to install a data monitoring software on you PC which I believe was only monitoring data volume and not content but I cannot be sure.

The hotel was "clean" considering it's age but it is not spotless.

Most of the staff at the front desk spoke English and as well as the IT manager. The were helpful when asked.
