This was my first trip to Kazan, and I was a bit apprehansive about moving outside of Moscow within Russia, but it was a pleasant surprise. The hotel must be a couple of years old but the rooms look brand new. For some reason it is partially located in a mall, so dont be surprised that there are people shopping on the ground floor of the hotel.
The hotel is definitely not in the city center but using a taxi you can get inside in 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. My room was huge, with a king size bed in it. The decoration was brand new and spotless. Even the pictures on the wall did fit in. There was also space in the room to put down your laptop and do some work as well as invite someone in and have a chat over a coffee. There were two small negative things about the room. The first one was that (surprisingly for Russia) they did not include a water boiler for you to make tea for yourself. The other negative was that the air conditioning or some coolant system was a bit loud and could not be turned off. Well it was -22 degrees outside so I guess it is understandable. There was also free wi-fi in the rooms, you had to give a code, but you could use it from multiple devices (Android cell as well as laptop at the same time). Breakfast is served on the ground floor, the quality is very high and lavish. There are numerous dishes to choose from and each one is superb.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to fellow travellers, for not only its price (pretty cheap for a 5 star) but also the quality of service
