“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I travelled with my wife and although we are not young around 60 of age we experienced an excellent hotel, location and hospitality, we also took a Insider Guide for 4 days, it was worth it.
Although we travelled in January/February it was bitter cold -16/-23c, well that is Russia cold and snow, We did not mind it as the guide was very helpful.
The food was excellent especially the restaurant of Pushka Hotel who also gave us 15% discount. We were advised to pay attention for pickpockets and other mishaps but we can say it was rather safe.

“Comfort and location, location, location”

Google it and you will discover the location can't be beat. We walked to all the sites from here and the tours. to those places like Peterhof, leave from up the street on Nevskiy Prospect.
We were there at the height of the white nights, June 22-26. It was one of our most amzing trips. On par with Egypt and Petra. Now we must visit the other Venice. The scenery was breathe taking.
As for Pushka Inn, the hotel was excellent. The staff were fluent in English and the room was 5+ STAR. large rooms with 12 foot ceilings and window sills where you could sit and watch the boats cruise the canal. The bed and bedding were luxurious. The bathroom had heated floors. We had the included breakfast in the restaurant everyday to start our day. It was great, especially by Russian standards.
If you have the time take the tour to Peterhof as you get to see the area on the drive and the palace is beautiful. Make sure you get a classic Russian BBQ'ed Shashlik (shishkabob) from the food vendors near the Bus parking area.
Be careful if going for a walk at night that you are on the right side of the bridge before they are raised at 1AM. If you are on the other side it will be hours before you get back to the hotel.
You should also bring a sweater if you are visiting for the White Nights as it can get quite cool at night, especially if you are taking an evening canal ride. I also reccomend taking two canal rides. One in the day light and another in the evening. There are many and all the kiosks speak some english.

“Just perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Pushka-Inn is a small very- well run hotel with perfect location in the heart of Saint Petersburg.
The lobby interior is very charming with the drawings exhibition from one of the local artists , lots of little charming details ( for example, candle holders in the shape of swan, white hydrangeas on the stairs) and beautifully decorated even though extremely small elevator.
the room we stayed in fоr 3 nights was quite spacious with 2 windows and a sitting area. The bed was quite comfortable. It was quite hot in the room ( outside was -18! and the room was very well heated) bit it was possible to sleep with an open window facing moika river embankment. Possibly this wouldn't be that comfortable in summer during the white nights since on moika usually there are lots of boats and this might become quite noisy.
The bathroom was quite small to say the least so if you are a big guy,you might feel a bit claustrophobic. The bathrobes and slippers were there for us, so no need to bring your own staff.
The location itself is ideal for tourists since it is within walking distance to hermitage museum, Russian museum, and lots of other beautiful spots. The hotel can be definitely recommended for international travellers, since all information in the hotel is at least in English and French , maybe even German. All stuff is English-speaking and extremely helpful.
The breakfast is served in the restaurant next door. There is no room service though with what relates to food which would be probably the only area for improvement I would suggest.

“What more could you want?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

The Pushka Inn offers everything you need in St Petersburg.
Location: The hotel is in a great location. Look left and the golden domes St Isaac's Cathedral gleam in the sunshine. Walk across the little bridge crossing the Moyka canal and around the corner is Palace Square and the Hermitage. Turn right and a short walk past Pushkin's house you arrive at the Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood, a marvel of mosaics on the Griboedova canal. 5 minutes away you can shop on Nevsky Prospekt. And for a trip outside St Petersburg the hydrofoil for Peterhof leaves from its port on the Neva river. Just perfect.
Staff: The staff are very welcoming from the porter who greets you on arrival and the obliging staff at reception who will advise on restaurants and book tours or taxis. Nothing is too much trouble. They all speak excellent English.
Rooms: Our room was spacious overlooking the Moyka canal. It was a little noisy at night due to the passing canal cruises but with the windows closed we slept well and we loved watching the passing river boats. If you want a quiet room ask for a room at the back overlooking the courtyard.
Restaurant: The restaurant attached to the hotel offers breakfast (included in the tariff) with something to suit everyone. In the evening it is great to pop next door after a long day of sight-seeing for dinner or a late night coffee or yummy hot chocolate.
Price: Great for all the Pushka Inn offers but especially for its superb location with access to all the main sights of St Petersburg within walking distance.

“so close to the Hermitage”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

My friend and I spent three nights in St Petersburg with the aim of visiting the Hermitage Mueseum. This hotel is so close to the Hermitage. The hotel was quiet, warm and clean. It was not 5 star but we did not want that. The staff were friendly and helpful. They were able to advise where my friend could have her boots repaired. They wrote some basic Russian phrases to help with talking to the boot repairman. From the hotel we could also walk to other locations in the city. The Restaurant next door is where breakfast is served which is of a good standard. We also ate there at night and the meals were nice and of good value.
