We booked Pio for 5 nights after reading some good reviews about the place.
We booked and payd our room several weeks in advance but when we arrived we where told that our room was not available. They said the people in our room couldnt make their flight home and the hotel aloud them to stay an extra night. Maybe nobel but why should this effect other guests who also are on vacation?
They gave us the option to go to another hotel for the night or take a single room with discount. They told us this after we had carried our luggage up to the 4th floor in 30 degrees celcius. Because we where tyred from a day travelling we excepted the offer.
The next day we where moved to a double room. Because it was a warm period in St Petersburg the whole hotel was warm and this room was no exception. It was really uncomfortably hot and very noisy due to construction work going on in frond of the hotel (ok, thats not their fault).
After 3 nights they told us what our "discount" would be. They gave us 500 Roebels (thats around 12 euros). That was the difference in price between a single and double room and they regarded this sufficient. They said that they would do registration for free but we later found out that was complementary anyway if you stay with them for more then 3 nights.
We told the girl from the reception that we didnt regard this a suitable compensation for a night on a skreeky stretcherbed. She would take it up with her boss but ofcourse they never contacted us about this matter again.
The location of the hotel is good and reception and kitchen staff are friendly but i wouldnt recommend this place for stays longer then 2 nights.
