Visited St.Petersburg in September 2011. Arranged to have our own personal guide and chauffeur which was worth the extra outlay.
This hotel was a very pleasant base. We even had an unexpected surprise on returning late one afternoon as we found a bottle of bubbly and a box of truffles in our room. It was my birthday.
The late evening meal was expensive but very well cooked and presented whilst the breakfast buffet was extensive and excellent.
The almost adjacent mini-supermarket was handy but there were others close by of a more extensive quality.
We ought to do a revisit.

Stayed 4 night here as part of a 2 capital tour with Intourist, nicely presented hotel, rooms as you would expect, staff friendly & helpfull with free WiFi & use of a computer room & printing facilities. Centrally located, 5 mins walk to metro station. Brakfast superb & evening meal (included) was top notch.

Ambassador is the hotel which clearly stands out of the regular hotels in Russia, and sets standards of quality of running the hotel according to the best western traditions. Everything was excellent inside the hotel: friendly staff (both at the reception, housekeeping and the restaurant), perfectly managed property with everything in working order, clean and designed in an elegant way, an astinishing view from the restaurant on 9th floor, excellent breakfast, and cosy nice rooms with flat TV, mini-bar and slippers. The location of the hotel is very good, close to the metro station (just a 10 minutes walk), next to the numerous bars and cafes, and within walking distance from local attractions.

The only drawback I can recall is slow elevators, sometimes you have to wait for 5-7 minutes to have one.

The girls in reception were really nice, the service was very good. Since it was easter, they gave us a beautiful cake with a greeting message. We had a very pleasant stay at the Abassador Hotel.
