“Just perfect”

I stayed in this hotel in November 2011. Prior to my arrival the first thing I noted was their genuine wish to ensure my stay was comfortable and that I had all the necessary documents for my stay in Russia. My enquiries by email were responded to promptly and a change of booking was handled with no fuss.

My room was superb... clean and comfortable. The only amenity I would have liked, but to be fair didnt ask for, was a kettle to make hot drinks. Next time I will make an enquiry.

The location of the Comfort Hotel is superb for easy access to the main shopping areas.

The staff were pleasant and receptive. I can and will recommend the Comfort Hotel to friends and colleagues.

I also recommend visiting the Hermitage Museam but book your tickets in advance to avoid lengthy queues..!

Room Tip: Tell the staff what you are looking for and they will do their very best to accommodate your needs

“This is not an hotel, is more like an hostel.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

Ok first this is a real review.

We travel a lot, and we stay mainly in 5,4 and 3 starts hotels.
We choose this hotel because it was suggested by one agent because of the location and free breakfast.

Lest's start from the beginning.

We thought it belong to the comfort inn hotel chain, well is Not, it has just a similar name.

The "hotel" doesnt even have a entrace in the first floor nor the street, like a hostel you must arrive to the second floor and reception, the building where the hotel is located seems like a residence and that the "hotel" shared just some floors.

The rooms were normally decorated, the basics, small rooms, BUT the awfull part is that we couldn't watch tv neither talk normally cause the walls were thin, even the neighboor knock our wall several times (I believe that this was originally a flat apartment then converted into an hotel).

And guess what, the next day we argued with the guess next to our room cause he couldnt sleep, i guess is the fault of the "hotel" cause there should be insulation on the walls like a normal Hotel.

The breakfast, the basics, some vegetables, bread, egg and jam, to drink milk, juice and coffee - the BAD, BAD, the breakfast room is tiny, like 6 or 8 tables for all the guests, so we have to go back to our room till there was some space in there, finally we were able to take our breakfast around 9:40 and find that around 10:00 they started to remove all the services.

So this "hotel" more an HOSTEL is not recommended by us, this is maybe fine if you are alone and you can watch tv very quiet, or speak lowly, sitting in a corner to take your breakfast and dont mind to be in small corridors and in a small reception.

Oh by the way the cards for the doors, they even said "you should return the keys once you leave", hehe, thats why they were so used.

So the only positive maybe as others reviews said is the location, you can walk to the main atractions.
and
Anna, the reception girl, a nice person...I think she should be in a 4 or 5 starts hotel.

One Suggestion: Don't expend huge amounts of money on travel agencies, just take the bus to the metro station from the airport, then go to the Невский проспект metro station (line blue 2) there are lots of shuttle and buses at several hours that make tours to the main atractions at 50% less or more than the travel agencies or tours offered in the hotels. (This option is the one that russian tourists choose)

Take care :D

Room Tip: Look around this location, Saint Petersburg is a lot cheaper than Moscow so you can look for a real...

Dear The_Last_Inca!
I would like to thank you for posting your review and I am sorry to hear that your stay with us was below your expectations. I would like to comment several remarks about our hotel. Comfort Hotel is a private mini hotel with 18 rooms which occupies three floors of an attractive 19th century building on Bolshaya Morskaya street, in the center of St.Petersburg. Hotels of this type are widely spread all over the world, especially in Russia. Main features of a mini hotel are: small number of rooms (from 4-20), home like atmosphere, individual approach to each guest.
We can not be compared to a large chain hotel, and we have many return guests who choose our hotel specifically because we are kind of home away from home.
Anyway we hope you have had an enjoyable trip to Russia and will return some day to see more of St Petersburg.

On behalf of all team,
Ekaterina Kleopina

“Friendly welcoming staff, excellent location & comfortable room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

The hotel is in a perfect location, close to all the shops restaurants and bars. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. My room was very spacious and comfortable.

The only let-down was that the breakfast room was quite small and the selection wasn't that great!

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

My mother and I stayed 5 nights at Comfort Hotel in September. The location is excellent and we walked to many of the sights such as Nevsky Prospekt and St. Isaac's Cathedral. There are very good restaurants nearby. Our room was basic and small, but functional, and to be honest we didn't spend too much time in our room anyway. We had 2 twin beds which were very comfortable and clean. There is free Wi-Fi which is very handy. The breakfast is very decent. But best of all is the staff. They are very friendly and helpful. All my emails were answered promptly. I had arranged for a driver to pick us up from the airport and he was waiting for us when we arrived. They recommended a private tour guide, Maria, who was fantastic. We had arranged a 3-day private tour of all the major sights with a car and driver. It was definitely worth the extra cost. We wouldn't have been able to do it all on our own.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that's not facing the major street (Morskaya). It can be noisy if you are a ligh...

“Great location, very nice staff, overall great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

Although the rooms are a bit small, we had a great 5-night stay at the Comfort Hotel. Not only were the staff nice and helpful, but they also were not condescending when I spoke Russian with them (which was not the case in Moscow). The breakfast room is small, but the selection of food is very nice, and the staff is eager to make sure that everything is well stocked. The location of the hotel is also great; it's very close to Nevsky Prospekt and the Winter Palace. I wish Moscow had such a nice place to stay as this; perhaps the Comfort Hotel people could open one there? The only difficulty I had was with making a reservation directly on their website, which I did to take advantage of some special offers they had. It would be nice if they had a better reservation option, rather than sending copies of credit cards, which is pretty risky, especially if you have to make such copies at a copy shop rather than from home.
