We stayed there in the summer of 2003 and will do so again if we ever return to St. Petersburg. The room price includes a full breakfast, served in a cozy lobby/reception area with tasteful and appropriate varnished wood decor. The staff was very courteous, friendly, and helpful. They respond well to e-mail inquiries and even sent us and e-mail Christmas card the following holiday season. Finding it was a bit of a head-turning quandary for our taxi driver, and a few mosquitoes found their way in through the vent in the bathroom. An electronic key is required to enter the building or gain access to a floor, so there is security. The rooms were clean and well-kept. The BBC is received on a TV in the lobby for English-language programming. It's about a 10- to 15-minute walk to the metro station and 5 minutes to Moskovskiy Prospekt. This street isn't as glitzy as Nevskiy, but those who stay here won't go hungry or be in want of any supplies, as restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance. The WWII memorial is about a 20- to 30- minute walk away but well worth it for those who understand the gravity of what Leningrad went through. Back at the hotel, things were quiet. Art is on display on all the walls. Another web site stated that this is all for sale. We didn't verify this ourselves. For those willing to stay farther away from the city center, this is a terrific value and we'd definitely stay here again.
