Helvetia breath swiss quality ... in a normal way .. for you who wants no luxury,just a decent and trustfully stay Helvetia is perfect .. next week i stay there for two days (-20) and i longing for this ..my favourite in russia

We stayed at the Helvetia Hotel on the recommendation of a cousin who is from St. Petersburg. The hotel was in a good location for us, close to the Nevsky Prospekt, easy to catch buses and close to shopping. The staff were very helpful, the two restaurants on the premises were convenient after a day of sightseeing and the food was good. We had a room with a small kitchen, fully furnished, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom spacious. The guide for the Hermitage, provided by the hotel, was a great success! Our trip was booked through a travel company in the Netherlands, via Poutsma Toerkoop, they did a great job.

I can recommend the Helvetia Hotel. We were immediately given a room with a kitchen and dining area, which was great. Staff were friendly and helpful and the two restaurants linked to the hotel are both great after a busy day. The receptionists provided us with a good guide to take us to the Hermitage for a very reasonable price. the hotel is just off Nevsky prospekt, which made it easy to use local transport to go to all the interesting places this town has to offer. We did a package tour from Geneva via Paris CDG to St. Petersburg via the company Travel.ch. We were very happy with Travel.ch as they offered excellent service.

My husband and I stayed 5 nights at the Helvetia this November - a cold time of year in St. Petersburg, and you do have to cross an open courtyard between the rooms, the reception building and the restaurant - however the journey was well worth it. Very comfortable rooms, even with a "pillow bar" allowing you to choose the right type of pillow for your needs! Would more hotels offer something like this! The breakfast was fantastic (even sparkling wine to go with your orange juice, should you desire) and the staff was most helpful. My only very minor niggle was no drinking water in the room. So unless you bring a bottle with you right from the start, you have to take a bottle from the mini bar and will be charged. Providing at least 1 complementary bottle of water would be a no brainer, considering how thoughtful everything else is about this hotel. If we ever get back to St. Petersburg, we'd stay there again.
