Stayed for 2 nights at the end of August on a business trip with 3 other people as we hosted a function on the 2nd night of our stay at the hotel. We took advantage of pre booking the hotel limousine for the airport transfer and I must say that it is certainly worth the cost. The driver was there to greet a colleague and me which was super as this was the first stop on a 6 week business trip through out Europe/UK, so we had lots of luggage/promotional material.
Check in was efficient and my allocated room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Free wireless is definitely an added benefit. The bar/restaurant area was busy and the service efficient.
As this hotel also caters to tourist groups, the breakfast room was very busy, however we found that once again, the staff were efficient and the buffet constantly replenished.
Now for my warning. As this was my first trip to Russia, I was given numerous recommendations regarding the locking up of valuables. Unfortunately I did not listen. Following breakfast, I went back to my room to go through emails. I then went downstairs to have a coffee and on arriving back, saw the lady from housekeeping leaving my room at approximately 10.10a.m.. Upon entering my room, I saw that the bed had been made and my bathroom tidied, but could not believe that the room had not been vacuumed and overall had not been serviced.
I was meeting my colleagues who were taking me out for lunch as it was my birthday and went to put on my beautiful antique gold knotted earrings (irreplaceable) that I had left on my beside table - not there. Prior to panicking, I then double checked that I had not left them in the bathroom, checked that they had not fallen on the floor etc. etc. I then called one of my colleagues to also come and check and the earrings where certainly no where to be found.
I then reported the incident to the Duty Manager (can't remember her name), who then went to investigate and when she came back to me was able to confirm that housekeeping had entered my room at 10.00 a.m. and left at 10.12a.m. She also advised that housekeeping had also gone back to my room to also search for my earrings with no luck and that they also commented that it had not been serviced adequately. Apparently they spoke to the housemaid who denied that she had seen the earrings and the Duty Manager advised that they were unable to search her or her locker, however that they would speak with the General Manager who would make contact with me.
That night we hosted a function for over 65 travel agents at the hotel therefore I was unable to follow up with the GM, when I had not heard from him.
On checkout the next morning, I asked the receptionist if there was a message for me from the GM and was told no. I then explained why I was expecting a message and his response was "yes we heard about that". His and the hotel's lack of concern absolutely flabbergasted me and gives new meaning to the expression "all care and no responsibility!".
It then transpired and following our departure that another of my colleagues also had a pair of her earrings disappear. She hadn't been wearing that particular pair at the time, hence the reason that she didn't realise whilst she was still on site. Her room was either next door or 2 doors down from mine.
On a positive note, another colleague had left her valuables in the locked safe and the hotel tracked her down and arranged there return - not an easy feat when we were on such an extensive business trip.

Dear Mrs F,
Thank you very much for choosing Radisson Royal Hotel during your visit to St. Petersburg in August 2011.
I appreciate you have taken time to share your comments on Tripadvisor.
Your feedback is very important to us, as it is the best way for us to learn how we can improve our service.
First of all, let me thank you for all the positive comments you left in your feedback.
But it was very upsetting for us to learn, that you still haven’t found your earrings.
I spoke to our Front Office manager Elena, who personally was handling your complaint.
In fact we made full search of the staff locker and of the maid who was cleaning your room.
There were no earrings, therefore upon check out Lisa at Reception informed you about this result and asked you to look for the earrings in your luggage once again.
Since we haven’t heard anything back after this action, we assumed, that you luckily found them.
I regret, that you are missing such valuable item, however I am quite sure, that the hotel’s staff has not taken them.
Please upon your next trip to St.Petersburg kindly contact me personally I would like to meet with you with regards to this issue.
Kind regards,
John Losasso
General Manager
