The hotel is an old Intourist hotel. This means it’s big and ugly from the outside, but centrally located. Our room had a very nice view to the church and the Palace of the Soviets.
The lobby, the corridors and the elevators are a bit outdated, but the room was recently renovated and fine. It had a plasma-tv, fridge, hair dryer, soft towels etc. The bathroom was new, nice and clean. It was a bit hot and we couldn't find a way to turn the radiator of, but that was just a small minus.
The service was fine- better that I usually get in Russian hotels. Everybody in our group spoke Russian, which might have something to do with the good service. They booked us a very good Georgian restaurant and were helpful with the registartion forms.
The wi-fi (50 roubles/hour in the room, free in the hotel’s coffee bar) worked fine. The breakfast was not included and was nothing special, I would recommend going to some of the cafes nearby.
We paid about 70 euros for a room for 3 people, and I’d say the value was good. The only thing we didn’t like was the fact that first there wasn’t any linen for the extra bed and when they brought them, we needed to make the bed ourselves.
