The Maxima Irbis is very remote from any tourist attractions. It is a half mile walk to the nearest Metro. Our travel agent booked us for two nights and provided Maxima Hotels vouchers for dinners for two evenings. The hotel refused to honor our dinner vouchers for the second evening.

I was pleased by this hotel cause it is clean, with large rooms, with all comodities needed. Free WiFi in the room, big wardrobe, free Tea and Coffee.
The Metro station is in 10 min walking & the price is great for Moscow.
Take the room with breakfast cause it's very good and it will be more expensive to eat in the city (fair center or airport, or city centre).

I just got back from Moscow. Maxima Irbis is really good hotel. The Metro station Vladykino is located 10 minutes away by foot and it takes you about 20 minutes into Tverskay st or Red Square . But that is ok, because the hotels in the centre are more expensive. Rooms, lobby and restaurant just has been renovated. Everything is nice and clean. Reception stuff are very friendly and helped me with excursions and concert ticket . Turkish hammam is very nice.

Our trip had been book and paid in full months prior to our departure. We arrived at approx 9 pm to check into our room. The front desk clerk, Nikolai, stated that our room had only been 'reserved' and had not been paid for. We produced a printed out statement/receipt with payment confirmation information to verify our room had been pald for in full. Depite having the transacation infmornation in his hands, he informed us the only way we would be able to check us into our room was if we personally gave him additional cash (he even offered to take Rubles, Euros or American Dollars). We refused several times. After a 10 minute battle, he finally realized we weren't going to be bullied into forking over additonal money for a room that had already been paid for. He relented and checked us in. We had been previously warned about being taken advantage of as tourist....we never expected it would happen at a hotel. An unfortunate way to start our trip.
