I stayed in the hotel for nearly 4 weeks. Room was a 5th floor standard room, was OK but a bit dated. The two chairs in the room were wooden type seats so were hard and uncomfortable, especially for working long hours at the desk on the laptop. TV in the room was a small portable, not sure of the size but too small to comfortably watch if you are in bed. Hotel has wi-fi but found it poor in my room so the reception gave me a mobile phone dongle which was appreciated (but also indicates they know there is a problem with wi-fi reception in some places). Bed was good, a bit soft but comfortable and room was quiet too (overlooking the rear of the hotel). Bathrooms have heated floors which is great but the shower head holder was set too low so I couldn't get under it even at its highest setting which is a silly oversight. There is no complimentary bottled water supplied in the room and was told to go to the shop across the road if I wanted some, also no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which is poor. I did request it but this is a basic in all decent hotels now. Breakfast was OK, but waiter service was variable. Sometime the coffee was offered at the start, sometime during and other times not at all during the breakfast. Breakfast room seemed to be characterless and poorly laid out. Bored waters often seemed to stare at the customers when they have nothing to do which is very distracting when you're eating. Forget the mini-bar, prices are crazy and as mentioned elsewhere, if you need a beer or something stronger during your stay shop in the small shop across the road (out of the hotel, turn right and its across the road about 50 metres up on your left). Watch laundry prices too, it is VERY expensive. Nice art work in the hotel and reception staff generally helpful but again, inconsistent service depending on who you are talking too. Good location, convenient for the Kremlin and west Moscow highlights. Hotel really needs some focus on the detail, many others do a much better job on looking after their customers than the Marco Polo. Its not bad for the price and location but could so easily be much better.
