The Cosmos is your typical mammoth sized dated Soviet hotel! I was there in 1991 when it was still the USSR and honestly..........not a lot has changed. The lobby is still infested with prostitutes like it was in the early 90s, the service is still sub-par with an indifferent frown and the rooms are well....Soviet like still. I decided to splurge and reserved a deluxe room on one of the top floors. Considering what I got, nearly two rooms, a view overlooking Prospect Mira and the famous Farmer and Worker Statue, the price could not be better. Anywhere else in Moscow with half the view I had would've easily been over $400. The breakfast buffets are divine, but get there EARLY or you'll be swampped by groups. The lobby provides free wi-fi access. However, at times it can be hard to find a place to sit because it feels as if the entire hotel is in the lobby trying to get wifi. Sometimes you can't even get on the system due to the high volume of traffic. I know three stars is probably generous for Cosmos, but the cost of the room for all I got was a real steal. One thing I was rather surprised about was when I lost my mobile phone in the lobby someone was kind enough to turn it in to the front desk. Also, it is close to the Moscow Metro which can pretty much get you anywhere you want in all of Moscow.
Room Tip: get a room on the corner of the hotel facing Prospect Mira for the best views!!
