The hotel seems old, though the price was not too steep for the location and the class of the hotel. ($250-$300 per night).

The only concern I have was that the rooms seem old, and the hotel itself has probably been rebuilt from an old soviet ministry building.

For the same money I would return to Peter the first hotel, not far away - a very firm 4 star, but higher quality service/rooms.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in December and had a wonderful time. It is in an excellent location....we were able to walk everywhere, and only hopped on the metro once. The breakfast buffet is definitely a highlight...totally worth the extra rate per night!! They give you free water in your room, but don't try and get more free water at the bar...they will charge you about $9 a bottle. Other than that, service was great, and I would highly recommend!

We had a pleasant 2-night experience with this hotel. I emailed the hotel couple days before my arrival informing them my arrival time and tried to book the hotel taxi. All emails were promptly replied and staffs told me they would try to arrange an early check-in (without guarantee). We arrived the hotel at around 8:30am and our rooms were ready and we were even offered to have breakfasts (while we only paid for 2-day breakfast) -- we appreciated their superb arrangements. They also offered us a late check-out.

My double bedroom was on the 4th floor and I have nothing to complain about. High ceiling, clean with a comfortable bed and a larger-than-average size bathroom. The setting of my friends' room on the 5th floor was slightly different and not as good as mine. There was a short corridor leading to the bedroom and the corridor was installed with fluorescent light, which makes the room looks tacky and strange (contrasting with the warm yellowish lighting of the bedroom itself). The ceiling is not as high as my room and my room seems to look 'grander'.

The breakfast room is beautiful but the breakfast itself is very standard. We had our breakfast at a coffee shop on our last day which serves much better food.

In general, great location and attentive service. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who are looking for a decent 4-star hotel but not as extravagant as staying at the Ritz-Carlton.

I've stayed in more than 10 different hotels in Moscow during my bussiness trips. This is one of my favourites. It is boutique style hotel 5 minutes walking to the Red Square, Kremlin, Bolshoi theater. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the breakfast hall is gorgeous the service is good enough compared to Moscow standarts. It is 200m from the Metro station which is very convenient for traveling around. And it is safe to walk around the hotel during the night. There lots of good restaurants around, for example Meat Club if you like really good steaks. The only minus for the hotel is that it does not have a normal bar to have a drink after a long day. There is a lobby bar, but it's always empty and not cosy to sit. But you can find a large selection of bars in walking distance around hotel.
