Pros: Very helpful and friendly staff; room and bathroom facilities clean and stylish; 7 minute walk to Metro and also same to Red Square area.

Cons: Quite hard to find but we knew this from reviews; The alley that the entrance is down is not very nice; Not recommended for people who will struggle to get heavy luggage up the 4 flghts of stairs. Bed so squeaky it woke us up whenever we changed position...not good if you're a light sleeper.

Overall a positive experience.

Location close to kremlin, but entrance is located in the side dark alley without a clear sign, we arrived late, had to rely on house number, walked pass a couple of times, and eventually plucked up courage to ring the bell and got in. It's located on 4th floor without lift. Rooms are nicely renovated and quite spacious, bed are as described comfortable, toilet & bath are ina row at the shared area. Breakfast are basic, couple piece of toast, jam with tea & coffee. Overall, 4999roubles per night, we think if you look around a bit, you may be able to find a better value though.. :)

Little hard to find to start with but an excellent location. We pretty much could walk from there to central Moscow and the surrounds. Very helpful staff. Very clean, even the shared bathrooms were very clean. The room was a bit small, but what do you expect in central moscow for that price? Bed was really squeecky and even my wife who sleeps like a bear in winter woke from the noise. Maybe we were unlucky in getting an old bed? Very helpful and fast with our tourist visas. Some staff didn't speak much English, but they try really hard, although staff seem to change a lot. Good experience overall, no worries.

I selected the Petrovka Loft for my recent visit to Moscow based on positive reviews I read online. Upon arrival, what I experienced was much worse than advertised.

First of all, this is not a hotel at all as I was led to believe. It's a converted apartment on the 4th floor (no elevator mind you) of a dilapidated residential building. The entrance was through an unlit alley which rather scarred us in the evenings. Upon climbing to the 4th floor, a rather young man greeted us. It was clear we were disturbing his rest, as we were luckily to get monosyllable answers out of him.

The room we were offered was tiny the size of a postage stamp. The bed, though once nice, has seen many betters days and was on the verge of collapse. The tv provided in the room was ancient, not digital and stations non existent. There was no shelf, closet in my room.

The bathrooms, toilets were down the hall. There were 3 of them, sharred for all. Unfortunately they facilities are cleaned only once per day. I entered the showers last of the guests and they were very dirty. The 4th shower I was told is for staff use only.

The only positive I could find was the location, not far from the Tverskaya street and all the shops.

For the price I paid I expected more and should have received more. The price was very expensive for Moscow. After 2 days I decided to move to a neighboring 4 star hotel. For the same price I received a room with private bath, spa and sauna for guests and many few hassles. My advice to visitors to Moscow. If you are looking for a nice place to stay, look elsewhere!
