“a candle lit story...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Hi the hotel is decent, V.V clean , new-ish, but on the evening of 25th of Jan 2012 had no power in the rooms, good thing at least the heating was working, and the hotel concierge kitted us with tea-light candles. Very romantic, were it not that power did not return at all all night and the morning after despite heartfelt promises. Mind you, there was a snow blizzard ragging outside , but that's not much of an excuse for no discount offered and / or explanation as to when - truly - the power will return. Other than that the restaurant is average, nothing special, overpriced and under stuffed, a small bottle of still water is ca 2 euro ???? is no Paris, we are a stone throw from the airport and that's about it. Overall, I clean nice place, I will probably return( in the summer time) not sure is worth 85€/night but then again, it wasn't that bad.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing your experiences about you recent stay in angelo Hotel Bucharest.

We are sorry that we were not able to provide you with our full service amenities on the evening of 25 January.

Due to the serious weather conditions and the unclear information provided by the electricity company, we simply didn´t knew when the electricity would be restored. That´s why we had no chance to inform our guests properly. We read your remarks about our restaurant with full attention. We regret that we failed in providing our usual service standards.

Once again, thank you for your fair and honest review.
We hope that we will be able to welcome you under more pleasant circumstances the next time.

Best regards,
Maria Bulbucan

“Do not go there!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I stayed in this hotel on 25/01/2012 because my flight was canceled due to snow storm. This hotel has taken full advantage of this and asked me 85 euro for a night in conditions where there is no electricity in the hotel, gave me a candle. I had no heat and hot water in the room.I was tricked and cheated only can they take advantage because of weather conditions.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience about your recent stay at angelo hotel Bucharest with us.

Please be informed that the power failure we have faced in the hotel was in the entire city of Otopeni.

This incident was caused due to difficult weather conditions with very powerful wind and snow storm.

Due to the snow storm, the traffic of the main road reaching us was closed for more than 12 hours and the electricity supplier team faced difficulties in fixing the power failure from the central operator. They were not able to reach the hotel either. It is very important for us to tell you that we didn´t take advantage of this situation, but rather kept our regular rates.

We do understand your frustration regarding the minimum conditions and we are very sorry for the discomfort.

Please be assured that we took actions in order to develop a plan for avoiding such exceptional situations in future.

Once again, we would like to sincerely apologize for the inconvenient circumstances you were facing.

Dear guest, we hope that we will get the chance to serve you under more welcoming conditions and to provide you our full service range next time.

Best regards,
Maria Bulbucan

“A decent night stay close to the airport”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I had to spend one night in Bucharest due to work and I simply asked my travel agent for the hotel closest to the airport (Otopeni(?))
The hotel offers a good location, decent rooms for the price paid and a very friendly staff.
All of whom seem to be very good English speakers.
I got the feeling of the rooms being small, but this is just a visual impression.
My room was decorated with an aviation inspiration in mind... and it served me well since I have an interest for that and also work with that on a daily basis :)
The bed was good, the room was quiet and it did it's purpose as a good place to spend the night.
I wouldn't call it a five star accomodation, but the rooms were clean, the breakfast was good and with a good selection... it served it's purpose.

Only thing to comment is the access.
Being new to Bucharest I chose a taxi (I know now that I might as well have walked the distance, but that didn't strike me as the most favorable option just past midnight...) that basically wanted an extreme price for the distance.
Upon arrival at the hotel I was informed that they offer a shuttlebus service. That was not informed when the room was booked, but it would be good info prior to arrival.

“A reliable mainstay of my visits to Romania”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I have traveled to Romania on multiple occasions, and most connecting flights to the US require that you leave on an early flight from Otopeni. For this reason, we always stay at the Angelo hotel the night before our flight home. It is one of the closest hotels to the terminal building; the shuttle service takes no more than 5 minutes to transfer you to the terminal entrance. The hotel was re-modeled within the last few years with striking colors, which are bit unusual but a welcome change from a typical airport hotel. The restaurant is open "Non-stop" (meaning 24 hours in Romania) and has a good selection. We found the desk staff helpful and the restaurant waitstaff attentive and friendly. The rooms continue the red and black color scheme and offer the amenities you would expect from an airport hotel, though the WiFi signal appears non-existant in the rooms (a LAN cable can be obtained from the front desk). Bathrooms are bright and clean and feature a large shower. Despite being practically at the threshold of the runway and adjacent to the highway, the windows are extremely well sound-insulated and restful sleep is easy. Overall, a reliable choice for an early morning Otopeni departure, and the observation that many airlines use this hotel for their flight crews confirms that. (As an aside, don't be alarmed when the shuttle driver appears to be be heading for a an empty field on the way to the airport; this seems to be the fastest route to the terminal!)
