Vila Casa Alba was recommended by a local resident (friend). Although not immediately adjacent to the touristic center, it is in a pretty, residential neighborhood with walking distance. Seemed well run. It was a former home of a successful entrepreneur prior to WWII, and has been restored into a charming small hotel. Our room on the back overlooking the garden, was quite large, with an ample and well stocked bathroom. During our 2 week trip traveling through Romania, it was one of the few hotels with a bathtub! Decor is not too sophisticated, but is new and kind of "old worldsy". We ate at the restaurant (pretty, also has a terrace overlooking garden) and had a pleasing dinner with good service. Parking is on the premises at no charge if there is space. A nice respite.

We stayed here for 2 nights in October whilst looking at Cluj. It is a large old house converted to a hotel. Staff were fine and the hotel which is classified as 4 star in Romania was the only one outside the Athenee Palace in Bucharest (which is in a different class in every way) which attempted to live up to its 4 star rating. The room was very comfortable and every facility was in it. The bathroom was fine.
There was a small bar and restaurant in the hotel plus free access to the internet on a computer provided for that purpose in the bar area. This hotel would clearly be favoured by business people visiting Cluj. It is not far from the centre.
