I had to be in Cluj for a meeting and I started to look for a place to stay overnight. Booked a room over internet at a much cheaper price than at reception and I got assigned to a room in a nearby location, not at the hotel. I was wondering what kind of place I will stay and found out that it was a typical Romanian house. The room was spacious, I thing bigger than in hotel and I had even a shower with radio and hydromassage :)). Plus WiFi in the room . A pleasant experience.
At the main hotel thay were partly in renovation due to the installation of an elevator. The future looks bright here.

We booked the hotel from Cimpulung Moldovenesc.

The room has a flimsy air cooler ( 6-th sense Whirlpool mobile air cooler) that was highly inefficient and noisy. It did not cool the room The day was very hot ( 35 degrees centigrade 91F day) , the apartment was west facing, sun exposed, with a lot of traffic noise from the street.

The liquid soap dispenser in the bath room did not dispense, the toilet was leaking and water was accumulating on the bathroom floor.
I called the attention of the reception but they were helpless.

The staff was very friendly but not competent to deal with any of the problems brought to their attention as they do not have any maintenance staff over the weekend.

The internet service was very spotty and not a real wireless connection but they have a PC on the first floor.
The hotel is still undergoing some some renovations.
They spoiled our vacation. We wouldn't come here again.

What can i say..we had to book this hotel out of necessity given there was a champions league match on with Cluj and roma...

Hotel is maybe 10 minutes by taxi from a lot of the city/town.

Set in an uninspiring area of Cluj...not a lot to see but then it is failry typical of the rest of the city.

Good points....
staff were very freindly
Taxis arrive within 2 minutes it seemed...
Clean and tidy...
seemed ot be recently refurbished to some extent.
Breakfast was ok..nothing startling ..orange juice / tea/coffeee/cold meats and some Romanian hot food ....

Bad points - All room related so maybe if you get a better room this wont happen.
No plug in the bath so could not have a bath....other colleagues here reported the same so not just a one off.
Shower ..if ou want it cold then no problem...but pressure from having it hot means it is hit and miss if you get enough to actually have a shower with..on 2 out of the 3 monrings I had to forego my shower...(have it the night before!)
Room partitions..incredibly flimsy....i might as well have had myt bed in the corridor ..constant noise during early hours as people came back from the town...
Bed...asolutely awful..single bed..'in' a box so to speak...

Wi-Fi in all rooms..hmmm must be some romanian standard not one person from our party could connect wirelessly and use the service...no wired access either...although there is a pc available to use.

To be honest it is 3* and it feels like it. On the whole my estimation of 3* in Romania was not too bad if this is standard.

We had a great double room in the back - very quiet and spacious. The hotel staff were very accommodating and friendly. They helped us with hotel reservations in Sighisoara and with restaurant suggestions. Next to a good Chinese restaurant (we are vegans so that was quite helpful). Within a short walking distance to the center of town. The room was clean; nice bathtub. We used laundry services - affordable and fast. Good breakfast set up.

We loved this hotel and strongly recommend it.
