“A Peaceful Stay in the City of Smiles!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

I traveled solo in Bacolod City from 24-27 January 2012 for an official business. I stumbled upon Circle Inn via tripadvisor because of its ranking.

Well, upon check-in, by coincidence, I was greeted by the lion dance. It was rather late for their Chinese New Year celebration but it was nice though. Check-in was a breeze. The bellstaff is polite.

I stayed at their deluxe room. The room was clean and complete with basic amenities, plus it has a working table and swivel chair. There is also a big sofa. Bed is also comfortable with a good duvet threadcount. Aircon is noiseless. Lighting is also cozy. Heavy drapes are reliable considering that the location is just on the ground floor.

Their toilet and bathroom is also clean and has good water pressure. When I asked for a hairdryer, they easily provide one.

Pros:

The lounge area and cafe interiors are good with strong wifi signal but since I am using a broadband, I didn't maximize the service. They have a koi pond which is really relaxing to view. The sprawling staircase is nice to look at though I haven't tried using it. Their pool is relaxing and clean although it is quite small. It has nice pool chairs.

The hall leading to the rooms have a touch of native Pinoy as well as the room's wardrobe.

The bellstaff doubled as waitstaff in the inn's cafe. They are polite and helpful. The cafe's ala carte menu is delicious, though their breakfast buffet are not impressive due to limited selections.

Cons:

What turned me off is the receptionists. I wonder why they are not being attentive and are not even smiling? I am not sure if the guest has been too demanding but they are not really smiling. It's as if you are not in the City of Smiles when you meet them. The guards do not open the door for the guest. I mean, I stayed there almost a week yet the guards are not that too helpful even if they saw you carrying so much stuff upon disembarking a vehicle. No greetings whatsoever! It seemed to me that their jobs are painstaking. I agree with the comment of Mr. Tokyo here. I think the management may want to train them again for a customer service and hospitality class.

They don't offer free airport transfer considering the price. One-way costs a minimum of Php500 for 2 pax. They won't split it if you're travelling alone.

Recommendation:

All in all, the hotel is a good choice because of the facilities. I think it has been newly-renovated. I could appreciate the ambience and the bellstaff. Might consider staying there again.

“Good outweighs the bad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

The quality of the room (deluxe) for the price makes Circle Inn the best possible value in Bacolod in my opinion, though stay away from the Executive Suite. The room smells of mildew and mold, the A/C is not great, and the carpet is so dreadful it should be condemned as a toxic health hazzard! It is absolutely DISGUSTING! The other negative is the service. It is abysmal! You will never guess that Bacolod is the "City of Smiles" from the girls who work at the front desk. They are insincere and at times down-right RUDE! And very uninformed, which makes it a pretty dismal combination...The boys who work in the cafe are much nicer, but the service is awful. I have sat there waiting for service, with no other customers present, while three waiters chatted away without even acknowledging my existence! It's so absurd it's a joke! But this is par for Third-World countries in my experience... India is even WORSE! Anyway, all things considered, the room is well worth it. And don't let the location bother you. For $1, you can get just about anywhere you need in about 5 minutes. It's worth it.

“Nice hotel”

I find this hotel really nice. It's clean and the rates are reasonable. Booked a standard deluxe room and that includes a double sized bed, a cable TV, a study area, a mirror, a cabinet, a clean toilet. It's worth the price. Paid 980 and we were 3 people. Good deal!

Room Tip: A deluxe room is worth your money. Relaxing and the space is good enough even to 3 persons.

“Tastefully decorated hotel, good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Went to Bacolod for an off-site event and stayed 2 nights in a twin room. I was shocked when I got a call from my client when they said I will stay in an "O Hotel." The sexual connotation kind of led me to believe it was a motel.

It was my first time here and I was mostly busy for work but here are my two cents:

O Hotel is good overall. They have a big parking space in front of the hotel, there are circular windows (so you know you won't miss the place) and interiors of the place are quite modern. Location-wise, it's near Robinson's Mall, Kuppa Coffee Shop and their park. (Bacolod's city center is quite small and everything is near). I guess the immediate down side is they don't have an elevator.

The room I stayed in was really nice. Nice white sheets and soft pillows, bathroom was good as well. I love that they have wifi access in the room, plus they had tasteful block-out curtains (which was perfect because the business trip left me sleepless).

The service was good as well. I kept bugging front desk about local phone numbers, a wake up call, directions and taxi service and for all, they were very helpful.

The down side would be the buffet breakfast. I went to have breakfast 30 minutes before the cut-off and most of the entrees were already finished off. There were also some big flies that were buzzing about and hovering over my food which grossed me out.

Also one of my clients who also stayed in the hotel complained that he could not sleep because they were renovating the pool at the time.
