We stayed here last Sept 10-11, 2011. It was just an overnight weekend getaway.
Pros:
1.) Cheap! only 2,000 pesos or around 46.50 USD per night
2.) That cheap rate comes with Buffet breakfast for 2!
3.) Large room with 1 single bed and 1 twin bed
4.) White Sand beaches and pools
Cons:
1.) Long check-in wait
2.) Very old furniture and rooms.
3.) Beach front rooms don't have beach view.
4.) Old Air-conditioning

Overall, I think it would be 4 stars if Tambuli upgraded and renovated their rooms, furniture and stuff. They already have a good beach and large space. Just a make over would make this place very competitive! Then again, it's cheap and a good place to spend the weekend with friends when you don't really need 3 to 5 star hotel / resort amenities!

I stayed at the Tambuli East on Mactan Island in Cebu Philippines in August of 2011. I would not recommend this hotel because it has become quite run down. There was no hot water in the Suite I was staying at. I informed the hotel management who did nothing to correct the situation. Also, there was no remote control for the television in the room. Furthermore the hotel staff failed to give me a wake up call as requested. The bathtub/shower looked horrible with large chuncks of enamal missing. I would also avaid the restaurant here. They are missing several items from the menu, and when my friend and I ordered a cheesburger, they split 1 patty in half and put it onto two different buns thus making 2 small cheesburgers out of 1. The entire Tambuli East resort appears to have been allowed to become run down. I changed hotels the next day. Although this is hearsay, it may be worth mentioning that when I was changing hotels, and checking out of the Tambuli the taxi driver told me that many other guests have been unhappy with their stay at the Tambuli due to similar issues.

We stayed here last March 30, 2011, the place is old, since this place is one of the oldest resort in Cebu, that explains why most of the things here are antique.

**And as per the Tricycle driver, the place is already been sold, and so the renovation is not a priority anymore, though the place is habitable and can still accommodate guests.

You can still have fun, and relax in this place, Tambuli East is still competitive.

Free Wifi, Cable TV, Friendly staff, Good food.

I also find it amusing, though this place is not like three or five star hotel, tourists from all over is, spending their vacation here.

We booked for 1 night at Tambuli East so we can have a swim for at least a day during our stay in Cebu. Booked the hotel via Asiatravel and price was a deal compared to other resorts in the area. But was disappointed when we checked in, though staff were courteous and check in was a breeze but the rooms were the problem. Dimly lit rooms, mosquitoes flying, low water pressure in the shower, old towels / bed sheets, old furnitures, old toilet fixtures - everything old and had seen its better days. It should have a been a great stay if they had maintained their facilities. Though we had fun, food was ok, even the singer at the bar needs to be commended he sang straight for more than an hour without break. They should consider renovating, foreign guests are coming in and they might not come back if they experienced the poor condition of the facilities.
