we stayed here last xmas 2010.. coz, we were on a tight budget.. the lobby was very dec ieving.. you would think the whole hotel would look the same.. the lobby was nice but the rooms and the hallways smelled really old.. they put us first in an old room.. with a 90's tv and i think, an 80's refrigerator.. the aircon broke down 3 nights in a row.. there was no hot water twice (the first night and the second one) it had to take 3 torturing nights for them to decide to move us to another room.. it was quite obvious that they wanted the guests to use their old rooms than their new ones.. the room they moved us to was better.. it had a newer ref, and a flat lcd tv.. Why didn't they put us there from the beginning?!? I was told that that room was free from the moment we checked in. the staff were always waiting for a tip everytime you request something from them.. It made us feel very uncomfortable.. the crib they provided for my baby was very dangerous! My baby almost fell in the middle of the night..

The hotel is already old but the management wasnt able to keep it well. It smells and the lights are dim. A night's stay is just PHP 2500 (USD 58) but for PHP 1000 more, might as well stay at Marco Polo Hotel Davao.

I had a a bad experience to this hotel, the management are very rude..rooms are stinky and smelly room..poor management..i would never ever come back to this stinky hotel.

When we checked in at the Royal Mandaya, we expected a decent room, but it was a total dive! Room was invested with little bugs, the TV didn't work, and no other room was available. The employees were totally aloof about the condition.

The worst part was, when my wife used the shower, the shower control broke off in her hand. It was obviously rusted out and decayed, but when we informed the front desk, the manager accused US of causing the damage. No matter what we said, or the obvious evidence, we were told that we owed 10,000 PHP to fix the "damage."

Well, I was a foreigner in a country based on corruption, so I was not about to attempt to simply leave, for fear that they would call the police or something. So, I submitted to management's extortion after negotiating the "damage" to 5,000 PHP, which I am sure went right into the manager's pocket!

After the one night, we moved to the Marco polo, which was a bit pricey, but well worth it!

Do not, do not, DO NOT even consider staying at this pig sty of a dive. You will regret it!
