Don't be fooled that they are part of the "Shangri-La Hotels"!
It is a 20 minute taxi ride from the airport to the hotel, which costs at the most 300 PHP. The hotel can organize a car to pick you up for 1500 PHP.
I asked for a non-smoking room. When I checked into the front lobby, the buy kept saying #1507. So when I got to my floor (which reaked of smoke), I went straight to #1507 and my key was not working even after multiple tries. Then I read my card, and it stated #1506.
When I stepped into my room, I thought I was stepping into an ashtray.
You see, I was already tired from my flight, and had a cold (sore throat and bad cough) so I went straight to the phone and asked if I could change my room. I was informed that the hotel was booked and that housekeeping would take care of my problem -- even though I explained that I had a bad cough already and had business meetings to go to,etc.
So housekeeping came in and sprayed this air freshner everywhere! Even over my open suitcase and laptop. I was so shocked at how rude this person was I could not say anything. Now my room smelled like an ashtray and an insane amount of air freshener so I decided to go exercise.
I called the operator and asked "Which floor is the fitness room located?" The man answered, "Ma'am it is a fitness center. And it is on the third floor". So rude.
Then I get to the fitness center and there are posters of people working out, but they are so dated they look like they are from the 80s. The paint on the walls was cracking and even though it was the third floor, it felt like I was in a basemet because it was so musty (probably from the old, dirty carpet) and there was no air movement. There were a few cardio machines, a few weights machines, and free weights.
When I got back to my room, the air freshener smell had left to leave my room smelling like the ashtray I was greeted with in the first place.
The dinner buffett at the restaurant is worth the price due to the good selection and quality of food. Even a few vegetarian options that was not limited to only salad. The dessert choices were great. Yet, the service was lacking. At the end of my meal, I asked this young man for if I can just charge it to my room. After answering "Yes" he just stood there and was staring at me. And so I said, "Soooo, can I please have the bill?". I mean, it was obvious I was done because I had cleaned up my plates from in front of me and set them aside for all to be picked up.
Then I went back to sleep in my ashtray of a room. I think I only got 3 hours of sleep that night because I was coughing so much from the smoke smell. I had a flight leaving early in the morning, and had to leave by 6 AM to catch the flight. Unfortunately, I would not be able to catch the breakfast buffet. As a courtesy, I would have thought this caliber of a hotel would offer to pack up a small breakfast for me. I have had this courtesy offered to me in other hotels, but not in this so-called "Shangri-La" hotel.
I paid good money for this?! To sleep in an ashtray to worsened my coughing and is currently ruining my business trip?! Yes, I am righting this review during my business trip because I am so angry about my stay at Traders that I need to vent!
I would only stay at Trader's...if it was for a free price.
