“Do not stay here!”

Don't be fooled that they are part of the "Shangri-La Hotels"!

It is a 20 minute taxi ride from the airport to the hotel, which costs at the most 300 PHP. The hotel can organize a car to pick you up for 1500 PHP.

I asked for a non-smoking room. When I checked into the front lobby, the buy kept saying #1507. So when I got to my floor (which reaked of smoke), I went straight to #1507 and my key was not working even after multiple tries. Then I read my card, and it stated #1506.
When I stepped into my room, I thought I was stepping into an ashtray.
You see, I was already tired from my flight, and had a cold (sore throat and bad cough) so I went straight to the phone and asked if I could change my room. I was informed that the hotel was booked and that housekeeping would take care of my problem -- even though I explained that I had a bad cough already and had business meetings to go to,etc.
So housekeeping came in and sprayed this air freshner everywhere! Even over my open suitcase and laptop. I was so shocked at how rude this person was I could not say anything. Now my room smelled like an ashtray and an insane amount of air freshener so I decided to go exercise.

I called the operator and asked "Which floor is the fitness room located?" The man answered, "Ma'am it is a fitness center. And it is on the third floor". So rude.

Then I get to the fitness center and there are posters of people working out, but they are so dated they look like they are from the 80s. The paint on the walls was cracking and even though it was the third floor, it felt like I was in a basemet because it was so musty (probably from the old, dirty carpet) and there was no air movement. There were a few cardio machines, a few weights machines, and free weights.

When I got back to my room, the air freshener smell had left to leave my room smelling like the ashtray I was greeted with in the first place.

The dinner buffett at the restaurant is worth the price due to the good selection and quality of food. Even a few vegetarian options that was not limited to only salad. The dessert choices were great. Yet, the service was lacking. At the end of my meal, I asked this young man for if I can just charge it to my room. After answering "Yes" he just stood there and was staring at me. And so I said, "Soooo, can I please have the bill?". I mean, it was obvious I was done because I had cleaned up my plates from in front of me and set them aside for all to be picked up.

Then I went back to sleep in my ashtray of a room. I think I only got 3 hours of sleep that night because I was coughing so much from the smoke smell. I had a flight leaving early in the morning, and had to leave by 6 AM to catch the flight. Unfortunately, I would not be able to catch the breakfast buffet. As a courtesy, I would have thought this caliber of a hotel would offer to pack up a small breakfast for me. I have had this courtesy offered to me in other hotels, but not in this so-called "Shangri-La" hotel.

I paid good money for this?! To sleep in an ashtray to worsened my coughing and is currently ruining my business trip?! Yes, I am righting this review during my business trip because I am so angry about my stay at Traders that I need to vent!

I would only stay at Trader's...if it was for a free price.

“Good hotel”

We stayed in a Superior Room on the 6th floor so no Trader's Club Benefits for us. Having booked through the agent, we had asked for a double room. When we checked in, we didn't bother confirming it. Our mistake - we got a Twin bedroom instead. They didn't have any Double rooms available that night so had to stay on in the Twin bedroom and got transferred to a Double the next day.

Buffet breakfast had good options. Excellent service. You could even view your bill on the television display in your room. Good location as Ocean Park and Intramuros plus the airport are relatively close to this hotel. Getting to the ferry docks to Corregidor is also easy peasy from the hotel (like a 5 min walk from the hotel).

Also as a fyi, if you are booking airport transfers, don't bother to do it through the hotel. There's an Avis desk at the hotel which is about 200 pp cheaper than the hotel.

An older hotel less stylish than the one in KL but refurbished and well maintained with fantastic service and safe and secure.

Manila is a large rambling city so "location" is a very subjective comment. If you want to be reasonably near to the airport and Asia Mall then traders is a great option.

Stayed 2 nights as a stopover in a "club room floor".

Room itself was large, bathroom a little tight, very quiet, spotlessly clean, very comfy king sized bed, all the usual facilities, great view of the sunset over Manila Bay, rainshower, free cable and wifi broadband and l'occitane toiletries. (Warning - Shower is over the bath for those with mobility issues)

Folks, book a club room. The staff here are fantastic - 6 star service in the traders club!!!! Free breakfast, free afternoon tea, free evening snacks & cocktails, free wi-fi . A bright friendly smile from very helpful polite "nothing is too much trouble" staff and called by my name by all staff after my very first visit.

What could there be to complain about!!! (Well perhaps the gym - very basic facilties)

Room Tip: You can't stay in Maniall without having a view of the Manilla Bay sunset - make sure you get a...

“Good City Hotel”

We stayed one night on a mileage voucher and were surprised to get an upgrade to a bay view room. The room is clean and nice. Even the building is old (former Holiday Inn) it has been renovated well. The bathroom was also new and clean. Really nothing bad to say. The bed is large and of good quality. Internet was free.

Staff is very friendly. The location is convenient and not far away from the airport.

We would come back to this hotel.
