It doesn’t take long before you can spot the western management in this hotel. Unlike so many places they actually maintain the place. The corridors have been varnished and well maintained. The lifts perhaps look a bit grubby, but I am sure they have plans there. The staff are very well trained and courteous. They also answered my emails prior to my check in very efficiently.
The executive rooms are large and comfortable. The couch is plastic, but you can forgive them for that as at least there is a couch and the room is very well appointed. There’s a kettle in the room and a nice table and chair for your laptop. The TV is the old fashioned type though, but not that old. An LCD screen would make the room so much nicer. The bathroom was nice, maybe a little old looking, but then you could see they had made an effort here with the shower. It had a new shower head and the flow was excellent. There is your very own in-room wi-fi router which looks very impressive, except that the internet connection is pretty terrible, but it is free. I called the reception to try to get a connection and they do their best, but there just is not the capacity to cope. They hire the right people, but they need to sort the internet capacity problem.
There’s a minibar and safety deposit box. They provide 2 small bottles of water free which is more than you get some places. The safety box is a bit of a joke is it is anchored onto a shelf! It would take anyone less than three seconds to remove it from the room. Maybe they have had no problem and maybe the alarm would go off, but I just think it needs to be better secured. On the plus side, the hotel has very good security and I can’t see an outside thief getting into the hotel very easily. Maybe then there’s not much to worry about.
Overall though, this is Manila and good places that don’t cost the earth are not easy to find. I think on balance this place is good value for money for Manila. You can end up in some horrendous and dangerous places in this city. About two minutes walk from the hotel there is a Wendy’s, a MacDonald’s, a JollyBee and a 7/11. The area to get there is a bit grubby (it is Manila!) so don’t go out night showing your gold off. Whether the hotel is in a good location depends on where you are going and I don’t know Manila too well.
The breakfast was OK, but I found it difficult to put a western breakfast together. It isn’t the Sangrila after all, but for cost of this hotel and the fact that the breakfast is included in the room rate, it was quite satisfactory. The atmosphere is very nice.
I would return to this place for sure. If the bathroom was modern with a separate shower, the couch wasn’t plastic and the TV was LCD, then the room would feel like a nice Holiday Inn executive room, but they would be charging more, so maybe they’ve pitched it dead right for the market. It is so nice to have western management and to know that if you have a complaint, the management quite obviously are very eager to sort out any problem you may have. The internet connection is the main problem that needs addressing. I doubt very much if anyone would regret coming here and if they did do, they don’t have much experience of Manila hotels!

Dear Sir / Madam,
Thank you for your detailed review about our Hotel. I'm very happy to read that you recommend our hotel to others and you also noticed that the hotel is under European management.
Continuously we have been improving the hotel in order to satisfy the needs of our guests. Indeed, in our hotel most of the amenities are complimentary. We offer FREE internet (WiFi) and every room has it's own router. During peak moments which is early morning and in the evening the internet speed might go down because we have many users in the hotel. We are considering to upgrade our internet line to a higher bandwidth in order to accommodate the many internet users.
Every room has it's own 2-seater couch or so called "love seat". The upholstery is German leatherette. We have chosen for leatherette because it is easier to maintain than fabric. Hygiene and cleanliness are very important to us in order to maintain the European standards.
I also like to mention that we bought new TV's three years ago. They are not the LCD type TV's but the image quality is as good as an LCD TV. We offer digital cable TV with a large choice of channels.
All bathrooms have marble tiles and a bath tub with overhead shower. For some it might not look very modern but as you mentioned, our bathrooms are spacious and very clean. Recently we polished the marble tiles to make them look shiny.
We continuously make efforts to maintain the European standards and offer our guests a high value for money.
We are looking forward to welcome you again.
