The rooms were fine, but the hotel was unattractive, had broken blinds and screens visible from the parking lot, and was in a dicey neighborhood. The Inn of the Finger Lakes, a few blocks away, looked much more inviting. We spent one night and then moved to the Bird's Nest Motel near Skaneateles, which turned out to be cheaper than the Super 8.

Nothing fancy but our rooms were clean and well maintained. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy, including the state prison down the block but we had a fine stay here. The front desk manager was very friendly and helpful. Not as cheap as we'd expect for the area, but we were happy with our stay.

Poor value - paid $80 for a King room. Property is on a dark street, tricky to find, and neighboring houses are bleek. Spartan exterior appearance. Room was spacious but mattress pad was covered in someone else's dark hairs. Removed and slept without it but sheets had various lightly colored stains as well. Bedding smelled okay but obviously was worn.

That alone soured us on the place. However, the shower head could not be adjusted and shot in all directions. The towels were extremely thin and abrasive. The breakfast was comical! Fifteen minutes before it closed (at 9 am), there were about 3 donuts and 3 English muffins remaining (plus cereal). No plates were available and I had to ask for bowls at the front desk. Nowhere to sit either. Other guests were strange. Housekeeping took over hallways in the morning - linens were all over the floors. Same guy who checked us in at 11 pm was there at 9 am in the morning. That's an awefully long shift for the front desk to ensure good service. He was friendly though.

All in all, we would not stay here again and are likely to avoid Super 8's in the future. Auburn in general was rather gross and I would recommend staying in another town if possible.

I have stayed at this motel for the past 12 years because of a reunion that is held every September in that area. It has only gotten better each year! The Patels and their staff are very friendly and accommodating and will go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable.
