“good to be back at the Baguio Country Club”

The Country Club is a prestigious address in Baguio. Very classy. Not inexpensive so, for thise looking for a bargain, don't come here. This and Camp John Hay are the top locations in Baguio. Food is good (portions small however). Prices are high by Filipino standards.
I like the strong security, good food, cleanliness of the rooms and excellent service.

“Average week, nice views, depends on where you've been.”

We stay here yearly for an event. Room is cleaner, hot water supply improved. No foam pillows available & the feather ones smelled musty so they put extra cases to help w/ the smell. Saps used on linens & laundry are either too much or harsh, strong scent & gave us a rash so use caution. Laundry is not returned when said. They have environmental signs but the staff doesn't follow them. Rooms are dated but quaint & nice. Smoking is allowed in the Veranda and it will waft up to the nearby rooms. Wi-fi was working fine this year & is free. There are other amenities although they are pricey.

From a culinary standpoint it is lacking, prices average. It is difficult to get a healthy meal. The greens compared to the greens available elsewhere in Baguio is lacking. The vegetarian pizza has anchovy on it-which of course is not vegetarian. The wait staff also offered us chicken or fish-which is not vegetarian. We did get them to substitute tofu fr/ the Japanese place. There were 6 cubes and we were charged full price especially considering tofu is cheap and readily available we saw this as petty on their part. Vegetarian/vegan is not confusing for other restaruants in Baguio so the training of the wait staff is a bit behind the times. For breakfast now only the buffet is available. I tried ordering ala cart off the menu and they said yes mam. I was charged for a whole meal that I didn't get. We only ate there 1-2 times in 9 days, it is disappointing & we've learned to go elsewhere. You can walk to Hotel Elizabeth, Mile Hi, Camp John Hay. Even the assistance of of our Filipino friends did not help clarify the food issues. The bakery is worth trying.

Parking spots are crunched. The view is beautiful, air is cool & sometimes clean. Certainly cleaner than central business district or Metro Manila. Get further away for fresher air, we only go out for walks at night or early morning as recommended by a nearby resident. Grounds are kept litter free except cig butts, lots & lots of butts. They have a small aviary, sad for the birds.

There is definitely a kiss up attitude toward members vs. non members which is not nice to see or experience. The other guests & noisy children ruin any time we have in our room including our sleep, all hours of the day/night. After the 4th day we tired of calling in our concerns. We wouldn't stay here accept it is part of a group function.

Especially considering that we were at a huge international event their standards are not up to par. The entertanment was something I'd expect to see in a disco/night club. People were leaving. Our friends had already snuck out as they were embarassed also. I expect more because they are BCC.

Room Tip: If golf tournament there will be announcers at dawn. If road side there will be jeepneys. If over H...

BCC as they call it, is a luxury exclusive country club in the Philippines. It has all the facilities everyone would need in a vacation. Food is fantastic, but you need to try the Hamada Japanese Restaurant for experience & taste.

Staff are well-trained & hospitable, you will feel safe anytime during your stay.

“Baguio Country Club letting themselves down”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Mye and my family stayed for 8 nights in December 2011. This has real potential to be a huge hit if only they would sharpen up in a number of key areas. Please dont take this the wrong way but I am basing this review on what a Westerner would expect to find. Positives Rooms lovely, ok could be bit cleaner in particular dust around worktops in rooms due to them not lifting items off table tops to clean table top. Beds lovely and comfortable, bathroom fine. The facilities on offer are really good such as free WiFi, plenty of seating areas, bowling, PS3 (chargeable) for the kids and adults, pool (chargeable), swimming (chargeable), Golf - wonderful course.
My main concerns are the restaurant. Despite having plenty of staff on hand I found the service very slow. It would seem the staff are not given clear roles to play. Many trainees are here and they do not seem to be interacting so much with guests or providing a real service. Some of the staff though here are lovely - really pleasant and hard working. They just need to be organised better to provide a better level of customer care. If you arrive for dinner or drinks it seems they are missing having someone dedicated to meet you and assign you a seat so you are registered as being ready for service. If that person then assigned a staff member to care for you then that would work much better. The major issue I experienced here was the delay and how they present the food and drinks to you. Drinks when ordered for 4 of us turned up in one's. So we would not receive drinks all together at the same time - WHY!! Then the food is just the same - served one at a time with upto 10 minute intervals between meal servings to my family - shocking!! You go out for a meal to enjoy the meal together but they turn up one at a time and sometimes quite a large gap between each personal meal arriving - this spoils the experience. My steak was cold, the plates are always served cold and from my opinion "A Westerner" this is not acceptable at all. If you could only smarten this side up significantly you could take on The Manor Hotel who have there restaurant 100% right. I did not really enjoy dining at Baguio Country Club. I also found the bar at the back of the restaurant located beyond the restaurant quite inefficient. Most of the time they would make you wait a long time for drinks and at 9:45pm told me on a couple of occasions they are closed. They could perhaps be a little more considerate (they close at 10pm) and suggest we can get you drinks and sit you in the restaurant area. The breakfast buffet is fine but someone needs to walk round serving coffee top ups or provide a pot of coffee for your table. Please when making a pot of Tea can you put 2 tea bags into the tea pot then boil the water so it boils and IMMEDIATELY asit boils pour the water into the tea pot, stur the tea bags, close the lid of the tea pot and deliver to table - this will make a better pot of tea rather than one that lacks colour qas water too cold. Aside from this the rest of the place is very nice and some of the staff are very pleasant and always smiling in the usual polite Philippine way. I usually stay at The Manor nearby to BCC and this sets the level I really expect. As mentioned Country Club has huge potential if only they would sort out the restaurant area. In future I would consider to stay here but would eat over at The Manor.

Room Tip: Do not eat in the restaurant if you like hot food.

“Home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Have stayed at BCC several times for the past years and it has remained “Homey”. A real R&R place for couples and families. The veranda’s breakfast buffet is one thing we look forward to, as the ambiance, the food choices and service provided makes family outings enjoyable and relaxing. The dishes served were a cross between hotel and home-style cooking. Though a few times we stayed at one of the cottages where we can do some cooking and grilling after a trip to Baguio’s Central Market. The “Raisin Bread” pastry shop has improved their raisin bread now, not dry and with just the right amount of filled raisins. Also, they’ve added more pastry choices and renovated the dining area. Their orders during holiday seasons were unbelievable, so one has to place orders ahead of time. To mention, the baking aroma goes up to our room during the night contributing to our good night sleep. We have been enjoying their other facilities for the past years, like the gym, heated pool, bowling lanes and by just walking around by the golf course to burn out some calories taken it. Through the years BCC has remained tidy with it’s warm and efficient staff. The rooms’ country feel is alright, I just hope they’d improve on the physical appearance of the salon and sauna. And maybe check on their roast beef ( Veranda) and longanisa suppliers, as the beef was a bit tough and longanisa’s pork had some weird taste. The Japanese Restaurant’s beef teppanyaki however was so tender. Seasonal planned activities were a great plus, the “Simbang Gabi”, Christmas Village created by the employees and the free concerts ( we sadly missed). The four days we had wasn’t enough for my kids….they just don’t want to leave the place.
