A beautiful old building that combined grandeur and friendly charm. The plaza outside is oddly moving combining, as it does, echoes of Peru's colonial past and contemporary dilemmas. Unobtrusively helpful staff, and a marvellous restaurant. I wished I could have stayed longer,

I arrived around 6am and the main door was closed but as soon as I knocked, they opened it and had a room ready for me even though it was very early to check in. As it was a bit noisy I asked to change and they said that there was nothing available but later in the day I could switch but in the meantime I could use that room. I was very tired from traveling over a month but after staying three nights here I felt completely recharged. The pool area is very nice to sit in the sun and relax and I saw hummingbirds there. My only complaint is that smoking is allowed in the pool area and someone even smoked what looked like a cigarette but smelled like a cigar. When I went to the airport I was told my flight was delayed 8 hours so I returned to the hotel and they would have given me a room again but I told them I just wanted to relax in the sun by the pool. I ate several lunches in the hotel restaurant and the food was very good. The wifi is free and there are also two computers and printers that are available for people.
