The room was clean, nice to have TV for the only time on our trip, lots of extra like soap and a mint by the bed. The hotel has character and the staff were semi-helpful (Maximo the bell hop also served breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, what a great guy!). The location was a little far from the main square but nice and close to the central market. Great travel agency right across the street (All Ways).

We stayed here for 2 nights recuperating from a long train journey from Cusco, and before embarking on an even more tiring bus journey to Arequipa. The hotel is well-located and a very elegant building. The staff are helpful and speak English. The beds are comfortable and we had a good nights sleep with no noise to bother us- something we were very much in need of at that point in our travels. The food was really good. I had something called My Grandmothers soup in the restaurant and it was outstanding. As the hotel is owned by a Belgian, it was more like French cooking that Peruvian. My only complaints would be that there were very few TV stations available even though they advertised cable TV; and the water temperature in the shower was uneven, but that is not unusual for Peru.

Stayed two nights for visiting lake titikaka.
Positive:
1. Location of this hotel is great, close to town center. A lot of restaurants around. Easy access to pedestrian only downtown.
2. European feeling decor.
Negative:
1. Saw a few hairs on the bed sheet when we first check-in!
2. Water temperature is hard to control.
3. Very basic set up in a room. (Does have cable TV, with 13"(?) CRT TV).
4. No hair dryer in the room, need to ask from reception.
5. We went to other hotel on the boat ride, they are much more modern but far from downtown.

No problem with speaking English. This Hotel treated me well. My room was clean. Restaurant was good. Breakfast was defintely worth it (ours was included in the price - make sure this is dealt with when you book online), go out for lunch and supper. Less expensive places around the Plaza.

Puno is a great experience. Just be opened minded and you will be humbled by the culture and history. But, always be on the look out for danger. If you are ignorant, you will be taken advantage of.
