We stayed 3 nights in this lodge. It is located on a hill side some kilometers away from the main road from Panama City to Colon. You have the impression that you're in the middle of the rainforest.
If you don't have a route description it will be difficult to find the place.
The hotel building is nice, but the cabins located next to the main building need an urgent refresh. It's clear that the location in the forest is partly the reason for the mediocre state of the cabins. The door of our cabin was not closing, there was no warm water to take a shower and going for a rest in the hammock on the balcony was dangerous because of the presence of a nest with aggressive wasps.
Breakfast and dinner is served in the main building. There is no choice in meals, but the old lady who is cooking knows her job: you get simple but good local dishes at an incredible low price.
The location itself is splendid and an ideal starting place to go for a hike in the forest, looking for birds, monkeys, reptiles and amphibians. There is a Spanish speaking guide (Jorge) who knows exactly where to find different species of wildlife. For me this was merely compensating the state of the cabin.
This is also a good location if you want to go visit Portobello, Fort Sherman and San Lorenzo driving over the Gatun locks on the Panama canal. We also visited a local Emberra community, altough I am not sure wether this is real or a tourist setup.
If you love nature and wildlife and you're not seeking for luxury accomodation this could be something for you. The place is peacefull and quiet, we were the only visitors, and at night we had the impression that we were alone, only surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.
