“Good place for a short break”

Been to this property this November for Eid and must i quiet liked the property.Lotsa greenery unlike Dubai. Its got a lovely pool along with kids pool. The beach also looked fantastic. Since it was the holiday season the hotel looked full though not overcrowded.
We got a pool view room (and partial sea view) which was quiet spacious with a huge bed. The room was bright with a nice and tiny balcony.Mini bar had adequate stuff. Service was good.Food was excellent. For lunch we had a combo of Indian dishes which was quiet nice. But dinner was perfect with Grilled Salmon steak, chicken ceaser salad, fish n chips, baileys cream brulee. The breakfast however was a dampner n didnt live upto the standards of lunch n dinner. The bar at the pool was closed for Eid though. The property looks well taken care of and looks more traditional with the design part of it. I do still think it is a little expensive with the room rates though.

Room Tip: Pool view rooms are best for the best view of the property

“Very bad and old place”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

It was a depressing experience to stay at this hotel and spent two nights there.
I have booked a chalet which it was so old anddirty; the Furniture was consumed and dilapidated.
The bathroom was disgusting and full of mold
The kitchen was very dirty, the air conditioning unites are dirty and noisy, the blankets and towels were torn and tattered.
The extra bed was not available despite of booking it earlier with extra cost and they have replaced it by spongy mattress placed on the ground!
The breakfast was so poor, the quantities were very limited and waiters were rude and tactless.
The internet and WIFI service were not available in the chalet !
And the last point, the front desk has confirmed that they have suspended their partnership with swissbelhotel rewards program before one week while you can see the logo of swissbelhotel on everywhere in the hotel.
I will not recommend it to anybody!

Room Tip: It is terrible!!

“A day trip to Sohar”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

A neat hotel, good to see the "real" trees after Dubai. A Banyan tree at the entrance is really impressive. The beach is almost virgin, could not see any tourists except dome fishermen. Food was good, but the stop serving liquor after 3 PM, so order your drinks before hand. By service looked like a government owned hotel and not a private enterprise. Attitude and service could have been better!

“What a depressing place !!!”

We went there a friday for a late lunch on the way back from Muscat. The food has been sitting there for hours so we choosed an hamburger and a ceasar salad (nothing fancy !) a la carte .........and it was soooooooooo bad ........we left without eating. The only skill they showed us was how to avoid and ignore us. Before leaving we had a look around the property. Everything is so old and run down. On the beach you will find 3 plastic longue chairs (if you are lucky) under rusted "hawaien" umbrellas. Around the small swimming pool, the matresses were all stained. At the beach bar 2 waiters were waiting for the only 3 bored clients sunbathing to order something. The common areas are quite kitch but no decoration in the restaurant only few tables and the buffet. This hotel looked empty and depressing. We didn't ask to visit the bedrooms because we will never come back. By the way, the photos of this hotel are propably 10 years old........or more !!!

“An Abysmal Experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

A colleague and I viisted this hotel only for buffet breakfast and it turned to be a truly abysmal experience. The vista is great, however the breakfast was another story. The tables outside are basket woven and will be a haven for bacteria as this type of furniture does not readily lend itself to cleaning. The two waiters were not exactly welcoming and when I was going outside with my plate one of the waiters was looking to see what I had and on my plate and obviously weighing up what he would eat rather than what a westerner would eat-which is their wont. There were no mushrooms in evidence,we were not offered napkins and had to ask for another coffeee. One waiter tried to take my plate before I had finished eating-perhaps they have a shortage of plates? The other waiter loitered in the doorway watching us as though were about to abscond as were not guests. The hash browns were soggy, the 'bacon' very dark and un-appetising ,the tomatoes were falling to pieces and the sausage was just as bad as the bacon as the whole cooked buffet had obviously been cooked several hours ago and not very well by the look of it.The baked beans were beginning to dry up.............one saving grace was the smoked fish but as to the rest of this disaster all I can say is go elsewhere or eat at home!
