“Safe Haven”

This is not exactly a place people come on vacation however it is a place that attracts a lot of business people, and safety is paramount.

This Hotel offers this it has excellent facilities and the staff go out of there way to be helpful and extremely polite and well mannered.

This area is one hell off a security risk to all visitors particularly if you have light skin colouring so it is essential that if you are planning a trip in here that you organise a good security company to take care of you I can recomend Cardinal they will meet you at the airport take you to the hotel and organise all your meetings and venues for you with top of the range 4 X 4 vehicals supported by their own security force accompanyment infront and at the rear.

They will take a lot of the risk out of doing business in this real hot spot right now and the hotel can offer you very good meeting facilities and free internet connections in your room this is however very weather dependent as is every thing else that is either electrical or digital in this region.

One thing you can be sure of your hotel room whilst not the most modern will be spotless and clean and the Food is also of very high quality this is endorsed by the fact that the hotel has been inspected and approved by Air France for their air crews which is always a reassuring sign in Africa.

“OK but not worth the price”

Advantages: good security, most of it works well, proximity to the Air Force base for flights to Lagos and oil rigs and a pretty good breakfast. But quite honestly is it really worth GBP 175? I think not. The odd numbered rooms look over the main road which means there is constant blaring of sirens as unofficial offical cars try to forec their way through the awful traffic. That side of the hotel there is also a church which has loud music most of the day. So even numbered rooms at the back would be my next choice.

Room Tip: Even numbers...at the back.

The Novohotel was one of the best hotels that I visited during my trip to Nigeria. It has excellent facilities with very good clean rooms. It is very expensive but it is nice to have such a high quality hotel in that part of the world

“A jewel in the crown - great location & great staff”

Having lived and worked in PH for 3 years, this was my first return to PH in over 6 years and was extremely impressed with the Novotel. I only learned of its existence through mates who still work in PH, but travel agents don't seem to know about it.
All other reviews describe the hotel perfectly.
Maybe there are more people staying in the Novotel which is why the pool was very well used and no beds available at the weekends unless you are down early, and ofcourse if you get time off work to relax.
Reception staff were fast and efficient with smiles that cheer up even the grumpiest traveller.
Bar staff were good but it always took ages to get served in the outside terrace restaurant area.
The hotel has introduced a Fast Breakfast consisting of coffee and pastries served in the bar area for only EUR2. Eat and drink as much as you want without having to go into the main restaurant. (pastries are made in the kitchen and taste excellent).
For those that need a big breakfast, there is a good choice from European and Nigerian food choices.
Lunch and Dinner could never be faulted although prices for certain dishes seemd high.
Rooms spotless and beds comfy, only the shower was a little dissapointing having little punch compared to the usual Novotel power showers.
Checkout a breeze.
Sorry Presidential - you will never see me again.

“A pleasant safe haven”

If an expat has to get to Port Harcourt it's for work. Because of the dangerous situation it's not recommended for anything else. A pity. The town seems to have a nice African vibe. This hotel is small but well run and well furbished. Food is good (best beef fillet in West Africa), service is friendly and efficient, and the rooms are comfortable well furbished above average Novotel type rooms. A pleasant place to stay. The best run hotel in Nigeria I've been in.
