“A jewel in the crown - great location & great staff”

Having lived and worked in PH for 3 years, this was my first return to PH in over 6 years and was extremely impressed with the Novotel. I only learned of its existence through mates who still work in PH, but travel agents don't seem to know about it.
All other reviews describe the hotel perfectly.
Maybe there are more people staying in the Novotel which is why the pool was very well used and no beds available at the weekends unless you are down early, and ofcourse if you get time off work to relax.
Reception staff were fast and efficient with smiles that cheer up even the grumpiest traveller.
Bar staff were good but it always took ages to get served in the outside terrace restaurant area.
The hotel has introduced a Fast Breakfast consisting of coffee and pastries served in the bar area for only EUR2. Eat and drink as much as you want without having to go into the main restaurant. (pastries are made in the kitchen and taste excellent).
For those that need a big breakfast, there is a good choice from European and Nigerian food choices.
Lunch and Dinner could never be faulted although prices for certain dishes seemd high.
Rooms spotless and beds comfy, only the shower was a little dissapointing having little punch compared to the usual Novotel power showers.
Checkout a breeze.
Sorry Presidential - you will never see me again.

“A pleasant safe haven”

If an expat has to get to Port Harcourt it's for work. Because of the dangerous situation it's not recommended for anything else. A pity. The town seems to have a nice African vibe. This hotel is small but well run and well furbished. Food is good (best beef fillet in West Africa), service is friendly and efficient, and the rooms are comfortable well furbished above average Novotel type rooms. A pleasant place to stay. The best run hotel in Nigeria I've been in.

“Family Interhotel”

Hotel in one of the most dangerous places in Africa, infamous by kidnapping the foreigners by local criminals is well protected and located near military bases.
Rooms are not very large, but more than sufficient so you won't suffer "submarine disease". I stayed in this hotel last year for over a month in one stretch, while the city was at "dusk to dawn" curfew and it was O.K.
With arrival of new French food and beverage manager in March 2008, services in the restaurant and variety of the meals improved a lot.
Barmen are very friendly is efficient.
Swimming pool, almost unused is small and shallow, but enough if you do not want to swim several kilometers a day.

“The standard is improving”

I have stayed in this choice hotel on several occasions. In my last visit in september 08, i noticed that the hotel has become cleaner and more secure. The lifts are now operated with the smart card similar to the one that opens the room doors. With that uninvited guests cannot sneak upstairs.
The staff are still very nice, friendly and useful. I still love the hotel but the room rate is creeping up. Thank God i use the accor card to get a bit of discount that add up.
Kudos to all the staff with no exception.

“The place to stay in PHC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2007

I recently spent a couple of nights at the Novotel PHC for business. As it was my first trip to the Delta and the first hotel in Nigeria other than the Sheraton Lagos that I have stayed in I was a bit skeptical. However, the staff was super, the room was in fine condition, the restaurant was quite nice and, overall, I must say I was impressed with the Novotel. Unless you have corporate accomodations I would definitely recommend the Novotel. Additionally,
as the prior reviewer mentioned, security is quite good, with a double
gate and the usual cadre of MOPOL escorts waiting in the car park for their daily runs to Onne.
